I’m a fellow Jamaican, born and raised. I bought this book for a friend and found myself engrossed in it as if patois was new to me. As Jamaicans, we were always told that patois is a ‘broken’ language and it has no structure, but Andre disputed that with this marvelous book. I ended up buying a second one. This has been an enjoyable learning experience for me as someone with a Jamaican parent but wasn’t able to learn the language of Jamaica. Andre breaks down every word for you and makes it as simple as possible to learn and construct sentences. He also gives us bits and pieces of his childhood and experience growing up in Jamaica. I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn the language of Jamaica and just to have a great read. Check out his other learning resources as well. Bless up!

I love this book! If you want to learn Patois(patwah) this is the book /ebook/audiobook to get. Andre Cuffe has a way of teaching that makes it easy to retain and easy to follow along. The book offers many “checkpoints” to show off what you’ve learned up to that point and to make sure you’re on the right track. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn Patois because it goes beyond just the basics.

This book is heaven sent! I really wish there were more books to really just read all day. The way he breaks down the book to the fullest and makes it’s so interactive I enjoy so much! With this book I’ve been able to actually chat with my Jamaican teacher and practice my pronunciation. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. He also has a YouTube channel and memrise website to enhance learning 20/10 this is the book!!!!!
