    So, I have read many Riley Hart books, but this is my first where BDSM is involved. Check the content warning before beginning in case some of the kinks described are a deal breaker for you. But I have to say that Hart did a good job of presenting the kinks involved in this book even the ones I'm not interested in myself but it gave me some insight into those specific ones and made me want to research and educate myself more. One of the big themes of this book I would say is that you don't always have to understand other people's interest to respect or support them. Not everyone thinks or wants or even needs the same things, and I feel like that was shown a lot between JT and his parents. Another big one I think would have to be to stand your ground and go for what you want even when anyone and everyone is telling you it's wrong or weird or not enough. Luckily, JT already pretty much understood that, but Marshall gave him that much extra support and confidence. Despite their age gap and the fact that Marshall is JT's dad's best friend since they were kids, they both stuck by each other and stuck up for each other. They didn't know when they were talking online that they were talking to each other, but when they found out there was no walking away no matter that consequence. JT had a need and an ache that he felt deep in his bones, and Marshall was the only one who could sate it. Not just with his domination but with his trust and acceptance of JT and what he wanted and needed. He never made him feel wrong or like he wasn't doing enough with his life. And JT gave Marshall that light he didn't want to admit he needed after such a rough childhood and only having John, JT's dad, and Callie, JT's mom, as family. He hadn't really been living for a while, and when he found JT, he found that light in himself in the form of his sweet boy. They were beautiful together and in the way they cared for each other. It hurt when all the angst between JT's parents and him and Marshall happened after they stood together to tell them that they were a couple but I think some things needed to happen and reflections had to be made and for that to happen things how to get bad for them to get better and I'm so happy they got better and they found their missing pieces in each other. I can't wait to see what Riley Hart has in store next.

    I know I was warned, but I still wasn’t ready.

    JT is searching, but he isn’t lost. He knows what he wants, he knows himself, the problem is finding what he needs. What he needs is someone who can make him feel both safe and not, controlled and not, in control and submissive, worshipped and put in his place. He needs someone who can help balance out all the sides of himself and will see him for who he is. He spends so much time trying to prove who he is to everyone else, and he craves a space where he can just be.

    Marsh is a man who craves control. His lack of it while growing up helped him define what he needs. He recently moved back home to be near his best friend John, and his family. John has been, and always will be the foundation in which Marsh built his life. No matter how far apart they are, they are always an anchor for the other. What happens when someone Marsh doesn’t expect starts to mean more than the man who helped build him up?

    This is the story of how a chance meeting on an app can shake the very foundation in which both JT and Marsh were built on.

    This book explores relationships on a lot of different levels. The relationship to oneself, one's family and one's partner. Learning who you are, learning what you need and learning what you are willing to give up to find that piece of yourself. It asks an important question, is it ok to be selfish? Is it selfish to fall in love with someone for who they are before you even meet?

    Fall in love with JT & Marsh as they navigate a relationship neither expected, choosing each other every day and learning how to be everything for someone while watching their heart break.

    Dad's best friend is one of my favorite tropes and this one is especially well-done. Marsh is a 40 yr-old man who just moved back to town and now lives near his childhood best friend, John; they're almost like brothers. Marsh has also known John's wife since high school and was present at the birth of their only child, JT, who is now a 22 yr-old man.

    JT is living his best life. He loves to work at a restaurant and experiment with cooking. His dad is critical of him not living up to expectations, but JT is happy, successful, and he supports himself. He is only missing one thing that he can't seem to find - a dom who is a good fit for his type of submission.

    JT uses a hook-up at to find potential Doms, but it's only when he begins to talk to one Dom in particular that he finds a satisfying match. They text for weeks, but don't use voice, video, or pics to preserve anonymity. When they finally agree to meet in person, JT and Marsh are shocked to find out they've been texting each other. When one hook-up becomes more and more, it's time to come clean with John and his wife. What can go wrong? This book has high-heat, all the emotions, and a beautiful forever love.

    I will say that t I didn't know what to expect from this book and just wanted to read it cause I have loved other books by this author. With this one, I have to say I did cringe, but I got better with it. The scene when they revealed themselves was the one.
    See, Marshall is best friends with JT's dad. Have been all their lives and was there when JT was born. He's like an uncle to him, even though they don't call him that.
    These two have similar kinks and are both searching for someone to connect with and play. With their dynamic of Sir and boy, it just works. There's awkward times but the more they spend together, they realize how much they need each other. This book had kinks I had yet read before, but I found myself liking it and wanting more.
    Things explode as you can expect and they have to work on their relationship with the dad/best friend. It ends on a high note.
    I really did like this book and the dynamic of the characters play time.
