About this item

The tall alien's eyes flashed. That was the only warning I got. He charged at me, throwing my crewmates aside as if they were nothing.

In that moment, I was certain he would kill me.

But no death blow came. Instead, he spoke, his deep voice heavily accented, each word like stone slabs falling into place.

"You are mine."

Clay

I don't ask for much from life; I get paid, and then I get laid. And piloting spaceships across the galaxy keeps my solo lifestyle well-funded. I don't need a relationship or any of the baggage that comes with it. I like my men like I like my coffee; to go.

That is, until the most boring job in the universe goes horribly wrong and I'm snatched from my ship by a seven-foot alien. He's huge, he's purple, and he's ripped as hell. I'm sure I'm a dead man.

Only it turns out he doesn't want to kill me. What he wants is far worse.

Arcay

I am the Second; Aldar royalty, the right hand of our leader. I live a half-life. On my planet, alphas and omegas are believed to be two halves of a soul. But Omegas are a rare treasure, all but extinct, and I have resigned myself to never knowing the joy of a soul bond.

But that all changes the moment I step onto the human ship. By some miracle, their pilot is an unclaimed omega. It does not matter that he is a different species, I have to have him.

That should be my happy ending; omegas are supposed to be meek, obedient, and willing. Clay is anything but. He resists me at every turn. I must bend him to my will before his potent pheromones draw every unmated alpha on the ship–my rank will only hold them back for so long.

How to Train Your Human Omega is a beauty and the beast retelling in the form of an action-packed, spicy, M/M sci-fi romance (with no mpreg) featuring an alien race of beefcakes, a stubborn human, and a very confused and grumpy alien trying to find his happily ever after in all the wrong ways. This book is the first in the Coveted Bonds series, with overarching storylines and recurring characters. Each story follows a different couple to their HEA. For mature listeners.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE author discovery!!!

I absolutely adore this feeling when you discover a new talented author!!

This is a magnificent work, from character development to world building and such a rich chore of narrative.

I’ll start by saying if you’re new to the Omegaverse world (ABO: Alpha, Beta, Omega) maybe you’ll be a little lost about the dynamics at first but you’ll get it almost immediately. It works basically about Alpha and Omega being able to be paired and releasing pheromones, and Beta being like your regular person who can’t.

But what makes this book richer is not the ABO environment but the ALIEN one, we got a magnificent world building, extremely detailed and interesting. Technology and culture explanation and of course miscommunication because… we can’t have angsty events without it (lol).

I don’t want to spoil too much, so I’ll just say there’s plenty of angst moments caused by events related about hierarchy among alphas and the interest in the omega.

There’s a lot of action and a thread of intrigue at the background so we’ll executed it was a pleasure slowly discovering it.

But the most incredible and well achieved thing in this book is the relationship building, how real it felt, the struggle, the language and culture differences and misunderstandings, the anxiety over the unknown, each character has flaws but they walk a path of self discovery through each other and I found that absolutely perfect.
There’s no way you won’t fall in love with both of them, Clay and Arcay are characters with depth and layers who learn to really love and respect each other.

The villain is such a good one, a real villain who causes so much damage and troubles through the entire book. It was very interesting (and I won’t lie, so angsty at times!!) seeing a villain with a porpoise and his own agenda.

I recommend this one 100%, and I’ll assure you you’ll be at the edge of your seat most of the time until the end.
The epilogue it’s so very sweet you’ll read it with heart shaped eyes.

???? Don’t hesitate, read it now, you won’t regret it ????

One thing before I start- Given the title, one might be forgiven for assuming that this book is an omegaverse book. Unfortunately that’s not entirely true. While the aliens do have an omegaverse-like society and biology (making assumptions here, because MPREG is never mentioned), between the main couple, that is entirely one sided with the exception of pheromone use in exactly one scene. Because of this, I personally would not categorize it as an omegaverse novel.

    That said.

I thought this book was coming to a close like three times before it actually did. Contrary to how that normally makes me feel, I wasn’t mad about it this time. It’s a retelling, and followed the source pretty closely, but it didn’t feel formulaic or traced like a lot of retellings tend to do.

I enjoyed this read and, though I’m not exactly champing at the bit for the next one, I might read it when it does come out.

The characters were endearing and frustrating and I yelled at my kindle more than once, which everybody knows is a mark of a good story.

I wasn’t super thrilled with the way the SA was handled (both during and after), but it was pretty much par for the course in these kids of books.

All in all, not a bad read and, I think, worth the time to get into it.

Interesting world building. Really enjoyed the way the author set up the story. For the first time ever, I would love to read more about this couple. Arkay is an honorable and strong-headed alien, Clay is a human from the other side of the universe. If you like sci-fi, definitely worth the read.

3.0 out of 5 stars good story, but needs another round of edits

This story was actually really good, and there were many parts that completely gripped me. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, it went the other direction and had me constantly swiping the pages to see what happened next. But I kept getting pulled out of the story from the grammatical errors and story inconsistencies. An event never actually taking place in the story but follow up events/character reactions appearing as if it did take place and then I have to go back to make sure I wasn’t didn’t miss something. Like okay, didn’t happen that way so not sure how it could play out that way but onward I guess. Thankfully, it’s not riddled with errors, but for some it’s enough to affect the enjoyment of the story. Another round of edits and corrections and this story easily bumps up to a minimum 4 stars. But if you can look past that, definitely give it a go.

A fun addition to the MM human/alien romance world. The plot was relatively straightforward but the twist toward the end could have been fleshed out a little more so we had more than a tiny hint that something hinky was going on. But hey, it’s a book with huge, hot, purple alien dudes so I could roll with it. Clay and Arcay are fun characters and I liked the betas, too.

I look forward to the sequel! Maybe we’ll get to see more of their home planet.

Idk if you’re sleeping on this one, but pick it up now. I read this in one go, and I have no regrets. Clay and Arcay were so cute and that ending had me screaming. I really enjoyed this and loved the new aliens!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love the story but….

Some of the plot-holes were a bit jarring enough to take me out of the story. I never really like world building like this that never address procreation. We never meet a female Aldar nor is one alluded to and Omegas are super rare so how do we get new Aldarians.

Also why bring up that humans are known but that getting the star back home is impossible at the same time?
