About this item

Is it possible to venture beyond daily living and experience heightened states of awareness? Deepak Chopra says that higher consciousness is available here and now.

Metahuman helps us harvest peak experiences so we can see our truth and mold the universe’s chaos into a form that brings light to the world.”—Dr. Mehmet Oz, attending physician, New York–Presbyterian, Columbia University

New York Times bestselling author Deepak Chopra unlocks the secrets to moving beyond our present limitations to access a field of infinite possibilities. How does one do this? By becoming metahuman.

To be metahuman, however, isn’t science fiction and is certainly not about being a superhero. To be metahuman means to move past the limitation constructed by the mind and enter a new state of awareness where we have deliberate and concrete access to peak experiences that can transform people’s lives from the inside out.

Humans do this naturally—to a point. For centuries the great artists, scientists, writers, and many so-called ordinary people have gone beyond the everyday physical world. But if we could channel these often bewildering experiences, what would happen? Chopra argues we would wake up to experiences that would blow open your body, mind, and soul.

Metahuman invites the listener to walk the path here and now. Waking up, we learn, isn’t just about mindfulness or meditation. Waking up, to become metahuman, is to expand our consciousness in all that we think, say, and do.

By going beyond, we liberate ourselves from old conditioning and all the mental constructs that underlie anxiety, tension, and ego-driven demands. Waking up allows life to make sense as never before. To make this as practical as possible, Chopra ends the book with a 31-day guide to becoming metahuman. Once you wake up, he writes, life becomes transformed, because pure consciousness—which is the field of all possibilities—dawns in your life. Only then does your infinite potential become your personal reality.

This is a book that I have enjoyed so much ! Deepak Chopra is one of my favorite writers, I follow him since he wrote his book: Seven spiritual laws of success... my husband knew I was crazy about this book and bought it for me ! Actually it has a very general and interesting approach of general culture ... it has incredible chapters that define a lot of interesting concepts. I enjoyed one where they talk about the way google workers do their jobs. This book is highly recomendable ! I loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, minor limitations

The main idea I got from this book is that we humans are bound by limitations we impose to ourselves, and we need to break out of them, which is a good idea. Surprisingly, there are some paradigm limitations in the book. One is the reference to our five senses, which are described in very simple ways. I will contend that there are more than five - one is the kinesthetic sense, which has distinct neural pathways, but there are other senses - not of which are even alluded to in the book. I understand that this is a book written mostly from a secular perspective, but some references to religious concepts are quite poor. The concept of "love thy neighbor" is totally misunderstood by the author (had he received the proper commentary on it, from a speaker of any language other than English, he would have been in favor of the Golden Rule in this book and not against).

5.0 out of 5 stars Top 5 Deepak Books!

I'm a big Deepak fan and have read all of his books. This one has to be in the top five. It seems like all his books are building blocks to the next one taking you on a journey through this current Fairy Tale we call life and exposing us to all the freedoms that exist but maybe aren't aware of. Ultimately he is trying to show that we have to go beyond habits, thoughts, routines to another dimension in life that will set us free from this idea of who we think we are. The illusion of birth and death, being separate from everything else, the personality/ego, your name and history, etc. I think deep down we all want to transcend who and what we are and this book will help you do that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Inspiring Reading

I just received and began reading this book by Deepak Chopra. He is brilliant and I wish there were literally millions of humans who thought just like him and acted upon everything he suggests. I can only hope that some of us will read this book and learn from it and put it into practice daily. Unfortunately, the average person is so far removed mentally from anything he suggests. Most humans are focused solely on themselves and the gratifications within easy reach or those they are currently pursuing to acquire a fleeting sense of happiness. Sadly, that's the reality of the majority across the globe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waking up through the experience of Wonder

I don’t have anything witty or pretty to say about this book other than to simply say to the author, Deepak Chopra, “Thank you, I am grateful”. I bought this book because I wanted to further my experience towards “Waking up" and along the way, the author introduced me to a whole new world that I was not aware of as it began to unfold before me. Thank you for your contributions and your commitment towards making Life an experience of delight and of Wonder.

3.0 out of 5 stars Author trying to say something important but I don't know what it is

Us Buddhists have a lot to say about waking up or as we call it: enlightenment. As the book stresses everything is based on consciousness and we create a virtual reality based on our beliefs, experiences, etc.
The problem is that the author uses overall intellectual language such that while its readable makes it hard to understand what the author is really trying to say wants us to understand. Moreover, he brings up lots of intellectual curiosities but dont add anything to the book. He should just have straightforwardly described enlightenment and how to get there.
