What I love most about this book is how interdisciplinary it is. The authors did an incredible job and bringing together many beautiful anecdotes and making the science accessible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful Read

As one who is an artist and the CTO of a neuroscience company, Your Brain on Art grabbed my interest. The text shows how, if we invest in both art and ourselves, we can preserve brain hygiene and extend our lives. Extending our lives is not the end game, but doing so while improving the quality of that life is. This is an excellent read.

Love this book and it’s an important resource for me as a Neuro artist - I originally bought the audible version which I’ve listened to twice and then bought the hard copy for my permanent brain-related library

3.0 out of 5 stars Tells you things you already know intuitively

I thought this book would be more, but it’s mostly anecdotal incidents incorporating the work of various people in the field about the salutary effects of art on mental health. The thesis of the book is wonderful - but nothing we don’t already know. I am struggling to get through it since it’s quite repetitive in terms of driving home the same idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating journey into the world of neuroaesthetics

As a lifelong artist, I've always felt the benefits of creating and experiencing art in its many forms. But now there's a field of science dedicated to studying and measuring how aesthetic activity can change the way we think, feel, heal and learn. Your Brain on Art presents a rich and diverse set of examples covering everything from research into how certain colors, sounds and movements alter brainwave patterns to the ways neuroaesthetics is informing the practices of medicine, architecture and education. Engaging, informative and inspiring. Highly recommend!

I heard about this book on the radio, and bought it immediately. It is so interesting how the mind is positively affected by all the arts and hobbies that involve the arts...for healthy individuals and for those with memory loss, etc. Fascinating read!
