5.0 out of 5 stars great!

I first read this story over on Wattpad like 3 years ago and it wrecked me. I cried every time I thought about it. I cried for like a week straight. Then I remembered it about a year ago and tried finding it on Wattpad again and couldn’t. So I googled it and was able to get it on Amazon. I just finished it and I’m crying all over again. It’s just a great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A story that highlights difficult questions about a sensitive social topic

This is a worthy though difficult read because of the social and emotional issues raised. A Night Forgotten immediately grabs the reader with its depiction of an urgent situation and then keeps the reader engaged with flips in the timeline that reveal the development of the emotional crisis. The characters evoked an emotional response from me though often negative for their "evil" ways. In the end, a twist surprised this reader and certainly prompted some reevaluation of the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars A totally engrossing read, don't miss it!

This novel deserves being read in one sitting if possible, it was such a compelling read. I loved it, the then and now, and never guessed the perfect ending. I wondered throughout how it could/ would end. I had tears at the end, it was very powerful. My only regret is not reading it in one sitting, but the anticipation of picking it up again speaks to the power of the novel. My maternal and paternal grandparents used the word davenport, that was pleasant memory. All the authenticity of growing up a New Englander rang true in your descriptions. One sentence begs a poem. “Stained silver by the September moon, nothing looks familiar..."

This such is such an engrossing and difficult story, artfully written and paced with the Then & Now time hops. I highly recommend it. Well done Meghan, more please, you multi talented woman!

3.0 out of 5 stars Promising author~

This is a debut book and starts out with Julie and Owen, a happy couple who talk about wanting to have a baby. Fast forward to a party at the neighbor's house where Julie wakes up half naked in her neighbor's bathtub with no memory of the night before. Julie doesn't know how to tell her husband and then she finds out she is pregnant.....

This is a solid debut, I was engaged with Julie and her story. There was a nice twist, but I was a bit confused by that point. The author went from past to present but it wasn't clear which was which. It also didn't follow the assault as much as I would have hoped or liked. Overall, I believe this author to be very promising and I would definitely read her next book. I give this 3 to 3.5 stars!

A big thank you to Scribner and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense and deeply moving, Night Forgotten will sear your soul.

This book is not an easy or fun read, but I guarantee you won't regret your time with it. From page one, the reader is immediately in Julie Porter's head and walking in her steps. We know what she knows, when she knows it. Meghan Joyce Tozer brilliantly executes the twists and trauma of this tale, trapping the reader page by page, until there is no hope of separation from Julie's experience.

This is a tale of love. Love withheld, love given, love growing, love with and without strings attached, and love that fights for survival against the worst odds. It's a tale of what women have endured through the ages, and the deep, deep unfairness of all of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars not easy, but nothing this good is

I started this book twice. The first time I wasn’t in the right frame of mind. The second time, I started it and couldn’t put it down. I will probably keep this to reread multiple times. The quality of the writing and the storytelling is first rate and I urge every strong, thoughtful person to read this. It makes you think about what other people experience. Read it. You will thank me.
