About this item

When sparks fly between a tenacious talent agent and a sharp-witted lawyer, a heated rivalry transforms into an irresistible attraction in this sizzling enemies-to-lovers sapphic romance.

Lola Barros is a rising talent agent burning with ambition in Miami's glitzy entertainment world. Carmen Vargas is a dedicated lawyer poised to conquer the legal field, anchored by her family's prestigious firm. Their shared high-rise is the only thing these two powerhouses have in common—until a trivial parking mishap snowballs into a full-blown feud.

Facing eviction from their quirky billionaire landlord, Lola and Carmen are thrust into unconventional anger management sessions led by the landlord's eccentric spiritual guide. Amidst a storm of unexpected encounters, their fiery rivalry gives way to smoldering desire.

But yielding to desire isn't straightforward. Between the shadows of demanding careers and familial expectations, their love is tested. Can Lola and Carmen find a balance between ambition and affection?

Fighting for Control delves deep into the hearts of two fierce women, exploring the electric tension when an unstoppable force meets an immovable heart. It is the second book in the Dominion series, a steamy, sapphic series set in a Miami talent agency and centered on strong women and the ladies who can't resist them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing !!

OHMY! It's taken me a bit to simmer down to write this review. JJ didn't come to play with this one - she came to win. And let me confirm, she won. OMG. This was an EXPLOSIVE enemies to lovers that had me on the edge of my seat. The tension. The banter. The payback. The pranks. The CHEMISTRY - all of it was utter perfection, in a way that only Arias can deliver. I had a hook in me for my lovely Lola from book one and I just KNEW that she was going to bring me to my knees. Lola is closed up tight- my poor firecracker's been through it and she hides her scars behind beautiful glares and sneers. She claps back and when she does, it's a standing ovation, baby. Carmen was everything I could have wanted for Lola, once she showed her true colors. The development of both of these characters and the realness of their histories and the evolution of their characters was done so well. It made their union all the more sweet. The communication (once it started) between these characters was so endearing and vulnerable. I loved it.
The old one!

What is to love about this book? Absolutely everything! Every page kept me in smiles and smirks. Carmen and Lola had such a strange relationship. It went from snarks to wildly elaborate and expensive pranks on each other. Was it hate or was it that each had unacceptable lust after the other? Both wanted to be in control. Their story was really very sweet and touching. Their emotions were all over the place. This is one of those rare books that I wish I could read for the first time again! Story flows effortlessly and personalities were so well told. Happy to catch up with previous characters. Now, I just have to patiently wait for book #3!

J.J. Captures the essence of Cuban culture in Miami and creates the best characters for the dynamic extremes found among a people so close and yet so far away from ‘home’. I was born in Cuba before the revolution and lived those challenging times that left all of us wounded. She writes through the lens of the generations after mine showing how our wounds have affected them. Using the tools of her craft in the best possible form she offers humor, angst, romance, steamy sex and cultural quirks to create a wonderful read.

Another wonderfully crafted story by J.J. with amazingly strong and flawed characters. I loved the push pull of Carmen and Lola. The hedges were a hilarious addition but the foxes??? It’s a great second book in the series.

I was so excited for this book to come out, that I dropped whatever else I was reading to focus on this. JJ Arias is quickly becoming my favorite lesfic author. I loved the plot for this book and unlike other authors who have an intriguing plot but then fall flat in the story, she has never disappointed me in that respect. This book was so funny and sexy. I laughed out loud a few times. Carmen and Lola were well developed characters and their chemistry was palpable. I can't wait for Natalia's book.

Latinx Sappic Romance with enemies to lovers! Both ????????Cuban FMCs! The tension from Lola & Carmen making appearances in book one had me so intrigued to know their backstory for why they were so hostile towards each other ???? but reading it and seeing that tension on page with the best chemistry during the ????️????️????️ but going back to hating each other was just ????‍???? the bickering was intense and fun all at once! They prolonged getting together and even longer confessing their love but it was so worth the wait! Also the way they protected & empowered each other ???????? the most beautiful thing everrrr! Loved seeing Lola & Carmen work on setting boundaries with her families as well! Can’t wait for book 3! Natalie’s story is gonna be so gooodddd I know it! From the first moment I picked it up.. I knew this book would be a total favorite!! First things first.. the spice, chef’s kiss! The romance utterly amazing. The characters growth and development only JJ can do such things. The banter, the HOT HOT bickering. The family dynamics absolutely realistic, especially in Latin families. This series is full of powerful women… Diamonds if you will.
