Emma is the one that got away. The only survivor of a serial killer known in the tabloids as “The Hairdresser”, because of the trophies he takes from his victims.

The police aren't convinced. Nor is her husband. She never actually saw her tormentor properly, but now she recognizes him in every man she sees. Haunted by the horrifying incident and unwanted notoriety, Emma gives up her job as a psychiatrist and retreats from the outside world to recuperate at home, where it’s quiet. Where she can be anonymous and safe. Where no one can hurt her.

But when she accepts a mysterious package for an unknown neighbor, it triggers a disturbing series of events that leaves Emma questioning her sanity and fighting for her life. What exactly has she let into her home?

From international best-selling author Sebastian Fitzek, The Package is a bone-chilling psychological thriller with a dark and twisted narrative that will leave you breathless.

And I was not disappointed!!!! This author is moving up to Harlan Coben status for me. The twists and turns that all seemed to come together like a tightly wrapped package (see what I did there?) was amazing! I can't wait to read another book by Mr. Fitzek.

4.0 out of 5 stars great psychological thriller

The Package is a psychological thriller by author Sebastian Fitz. I have never read anything by this author before, but the synopsis captivated me.

The story of psychologist Emma. After a conference she is violated by a man that she believes to be the serial killer that her husband who is in the police force is currently hunting down. However, her attack doesn't completely match the mo of the other victims. She also has a slight problem of having an overactive imagination since she was a child. When even her husband doubts her she begins to mentally unravel, becoming extremely paranoid and overthinking every little thing. Things really spiral out of control when she accepts a package for an unknown neighbor, and she can't distinguish between hallucination and reality.

Oh my goodness, where to start. This book constantly had me questioning. The reader goes from fully supporting our main character to question to doubting to not being able to identify what she's really seeing and what she's must be imagining. There were plot twists throughout that I honestly never saw coming, and it made me unable to put the book down because I just needed to know what would happen next and how it was all going to unfold.

I think what's keeping me from giving it five stars is our main character herself she makes questionable decisions and is a bit self-centered at times. I understand the whole time she's being toyed with and losing her grip on reality but by the end she doesn't seem to make any personal growth which I think I would have really liked to see. She really crumbles under everything and doesn't show much strength.

All in all, I highly enjoyed The Package by Sebastian Fitz and would be more than willing to read more books by him.

My first book by this author. This is defiantly a book you have to pay attention to in order to get all the details. It was a slow start for me but I stuck with it.

A thriller with lots of twists and turns. An ok read. I don't like to pay attention so much but this book will confuse you if you don't.

When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure I wanted too. But it turned out to be a very suspenseful story with enough turns and ups and downs of a rollercoaster.

Great story - have to admit I got confused a couple of times though LOL Lots of twists
Dr Emma Stein is a psychologist - one who had an unpleasant father - who caused problems in her early years. Since my degree is in Psychology I enjoyed the Ronsenhan reference at her talk at the very beginning. "Something" after the conference though - that sends Emma into a "spin" - and she becomes a little bit "bonkers" ( yes a psychological term LOL). Then the story becomes a twist of what is real and what is not.
An interesting story

I did not like this book at all. Reading this is like being in a room with people speaking a foreign language. You have no idea what is going on. Quit 1/3 into this book.

Best thriller I've read in a decade or more (only stumbled on it because I was assigned to review by [redacted])...think the most gruesome grindhouse crossed with the gnarliest video nasty...then chuck it all in a blender and shoot it straight into your veins

The Package was everything I look for in a thriller. Suspense and a killer? Yes sign me up! I had high hopes for this book and was excited to start reading.

It started off a little slow. Made you second guess everything that was happening. At one point, I stopped trying to figure it out and was cruising along for the ride. Some parts were really uneven for me and I struggled to stay engaged. There were all these puzzle pieces and suddenly they all started to fit and it was in no way you thought it would be! There were some major twists that blew my mind. Even I didn’t see that coming!

As a whole, this was an okay read. It had some great twists but not enough to wow me. I expected a bit more. I give this 3 stars.
