About this item

In a game of power, can love be the deadliest weapon?

Stirling Grey, legendary negotiator, is on a mission: to mend her broken heart and avenge its ruin.

Morrigan Lee, hidden princess and heir to the throne, is harboring a dark secret.

For years, Stirling and Morrigan navigated the perilous games of power and politics, shared clandestine moments, and ultimately fell in love... Until a deal with fate forced them apart.

When the Queen sets a formidable challenge, Stirling and Morrigan are thrust into a treacherous labyrinth of danger.

The task? Protect the kingdom from a terrifying threat or lose the crown forever.

But this is not a simple mission. With the clock ticking, they're going to have to trust each other... And that's not easy when their past is filled with betrayal. It's even harder when their hearts are entangled amidst the chaos.

Now, neither woman is sure if it's the throne they want to rescue or love they want to rekindle.

Two hearts, one kingdom, and a romance that could lead to their ruin… or just maybe their redemption.

This is a steamy lesbian fantasy romance with second chances, ruinous secrets, found family, a masquerade ball, a long con, and a love that could either shatter a kingdom or save it. Intended for mature listeners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Distinct Voices, Lots of Spice, Great Ensemble

The second book of the girl games series distinguishes itself while staying true to the style of the first. All of the wit, spice, humor, heart, and ensemble from the first book is still here. But the voice of the new MC's feel distinct from both each other, and from that of those in the first book. Their weapons are also different. The battles of wits in this book are just as exciting as the battles with swords in the first. Looking forward the reading the next book!

Recommended for fans of spice, queer romantasy, and battles of wits.

4.0 out of 5 stars Timeline errors

This book was enjoyable enough even if I found the constant lying drama between the two MCs a little tedious. My biggest issue with the book is that there are glaring timeline errors, big enough for me to pick up on even though I usually don't get bogged down by those kinds of details. In one chapter that takes place "three years ago" Stirling says she and Morrigan have only been together for five months. Then a few chapters later that takes place "two years ago" Morrigan says that they are celebrating their three year anniversary. Maybe it's just me but that math ain't mathin'.

Otherwise the book was fine. I prefer the first book and it's MCs. Scarlett and Quinn make more sense to me. After finishing this book I still don't understand why Stirling and Morrigan want to be together.

But there’s a first time for everything. I enjoyed the 2nd book just as much as the 1st, if not more. I definitely enjoyed getting invested into the characters a bit more this time around. Some people may recommend this book because they say it’s reminds them of 50 Shades of Grey & Harry Potter. I never read those books, I only saw the movies. No one is flying around on brooms or waving wands at each other and there’s not a whole lot of heterosexual interaction going on in these books. I chose it because I found it on TikTok under “LESBIAN FANTASY.” So yeah, definitely a good lesbian fantasy drama. 10 of 10 highly recommend.

So well written. The detail, the scene setting, the adventure, the story… I couldn’t put it down! 10/10 recommend. A must read.

I knew it! This series has me completely - I almost don't wanna read the last book because I don't want it to end!!????

Stirling and Morrigan are just ????????... their love runs DEEP, which you can tell right away in the first book. Here, we get a look in their past and learn how they came to be apart. We also leave that you can't really keep them apart lol.

There's so much more intrigue, mystery, excitement, and romance in the series....I love it all!!

The MCs, Stirling and Morrigan, have lied and kept secrets to protect each other, but at the cost of their relationship.

Now, there is a chance for everything to come full circle; the facts and confessions come. Will they be able to forgive each other?

If you’ve read the first book you MUST read this one but even if you haven’t you can read it as a standalone. Either way, read it…you won’t be disappointed. Ruby’s books always have the best spice! And I read a lot of sapphic books, she’s in a league all her own. We’re not worthy of her genius.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ehh dragged on

The book is a good book, however there was pointless information and backgrounds that did not matter in the book that became boring. They do flashbacks that are suppose to give you the “answer” to a burning question for better plot but it doesn’t. So it just ends up letting you down and it’s unnecessary information that made the book drag on. Loved the first book, but I will have to DNF the series.
