This book was hard to put down. Very detailed and comprehensive survey of the railroad. Many fun aspects from technical to the comfort of passenger trains. Enjoyable read.

The history of railroads is the history of the development of communications in the XIX century. The train helped to the birth of travel and the tourism. The possibility of commerce was greatly improved. In fact, the railroad was the first Internet of the world. And this book is a real pleasure to read for the lovers of that history.
