Recommended for strategies to support 2E kids

I was desperate for some insight into the complexity of parenting a 2E kid. I would recommend this book if you are feeling overwhelmed by parenting a 2E kid. It has great insight and strategies, like actual things to do to help your parent/child relationship. It also has a section on advocating for your child in the school context. I've purchased several books on neurodiversity, parenting, 2e kids, etc and this is the best I have found so far.

This book explains in clear language how to perceive a 2e individual’s strengths and struggles. I not only suggest reading it, but gifting it to teachers, advocates, and any member of an IEP or 504 team. “Giftedness is a special need.”. If implemented, the strengths lead solutions in this book will bolster the outcomes for these exceptional individuals. Thank you for writing this excellent resource!

Good explanation of ADHD in adults

This book is well-written, and describes better than most books how ADHD can affect adults. It includes several case studies, which help with the reader's understanding of the author's presentation. It does NOT have guaranteed solutions for everyone with this condition, but that is partly because the ways in which individuals are impacted varies so widely (something the book also helps to explain).

Comprehensive, practical resource

As both the parent of a 2e child who is 2e herself and a speech therapist that works with neurodivergent students, this book does an excellent job of not just explaining twice exceptionality but providing practical strategies. I love the section on what learning differences to expect and also the details on how to avoid power struggles. I have been doing some of these strategies without having a name for them and seeing it in print is validating! Others are new to me and I’m excited to try them out.

You’ve written the book that will soon be The Book about children who have the multifarious, polygonal twin conditions, each of which can make or break you and your family as well. Skolnick shines her special light thru the fog that’s so thick you can just about swim in it. She combines an eye for the practical as well as just the right words when she knows what she’s saying will hurt.
