5.0 out of 5 stars quick and great read!

Freida McFadden does it again! I was weary about starting this book when it sounded so tedious, “6 friends traveling to an Inn when their car breaks down and they have to travel through the Colorado forest by foot to find the Inn. However, one by one, people go missing with lots of blood around or they find their dear friends dead… one by one this happens until there’s 2 people left…” what an amazing book. I was on the edge of my seat from the start. The last 6 chapters were phenomenal and the epilogue left me with a dropped jaw. Highly recommend! Very quick read!

First of all, I am a huge fan of Freida McFadden's books. Her books are never boring and a quick read, the kind you keep saying, "Just one more chapter," and then 10 chapters later you realize you stayed up way too late past your bedtime. This book was good, but honestly not, in my opinion, as good as some of her other books. A lot of things did not really make sense to me. Why the trip in the first place when it seems no one wanted to really be there with the person they were with more or less. And one character that was supposedly dead... not doing a name here to spoil... they could not tell the person was still alive? I mean come on. And then the ending when the culprit was revealed... it did not make sense to me because the person did not have a really good reason for doing what they did. It was a flimsy reason that made no sense for the rage and carnage. There were a lot of things that did not make sense and asked you to suspend logic and common sense, which kind of dampened the thrill for me. Plus, I figured out one of the culprits 3/4 of the way through so that was not a surprise. A good book but just not her best work I think.

Another book of Freud's McFadden I could not put down. It will keep you guessing the entire book. Definitely a page turner! I recommend this one as a great one to read. Well done!

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick Easy Thriller
Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2024
Thank you to NetGalley, Frieda McFadden, and Hollywood Upstairs Press for this ARC!

I was in the mood for a quick and easy thriller and Frieda McFadden is my go-to! She has so many options and I really liked some of her other books. This book went by like lightning. Sooooo so fast! The chapters are short and there’s not too much detail so the plot really does not drag.

I enjoyed the book, but it was not my favorite of her stories! I was not very invested and it didn’t excite me. It was okay. I would recommend this book for someone who wants an easy quick thriller. I am looking forward to her next release!

I love me a Freida McFadden thriller! She’s one of my favorite authors. Still, I did not expect to like this one because the 'lost in the woods' storyline just does not typically appeal to me. But man am I glad I was wrong about this one! Per usual, Freida did not disappoint.

I loved the short chapters, multiple POVs (including one from an anonymous person!), suspense, and best of all that plot twist! A lot of the time I’m at least close to figuring out the mystery but this one truly surprised me. So impressed with this book and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun thriller. Best of all, it’s on Kindle Unlimited!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprising

This book had a solid story line. The characters were well defined and their personalities and interactions laid out the thrilling plot. I can usually anticipate the ending of a book, who done it, but this thriller held the secret through the end.

Once again, Freida has gotten me hooked so far deep into a book, I was unable to put it down. I should be sleeping right now, but I just had to finish this book to figure out who the bad guy was.

Six people set off to have, what should be a relaxing and fun getaway. Little do they know what they have in store for them. Four of the six in the group have been close friends for a long time, so it should be a fun trip, right? Right away the trip starts off rocky, with one of the couples getting into an argument, so tensions are already high and the vibe is already awkward. Then the car breaks down and the group is forced to try and find their way to the hotel that they are staying at, but instead, they get lost in the woods where the group starts to dwindle down. But what is happening out there to cause this?

The chapters are just the right length, and they alternate between Claire and Anonymous. Pretty early on, I thought I had figured out who Anonymous was. I was actually pretty confident in who I thought Anonymous was. Boy was I dead wrong!

I rated this book at 4.5/5 stars. The only reason it didn’t get the full 5 stars is because I didn’t want the book to end. I was that hooked into it. If you are looking for a page turner that you will not be able to put down, then this is the book for you. If twists, turns and shocks are your favorite things in a book, then prepare for the whiplash that you will get from reading this book.

Thank you to Freida for writing, yet another amazing book. Also a huge thanks to Poison Pen Publishing for allowing me to read this ahead of time!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced Thriller.

Such an easy read, very fast paced. I enjoyed the book, not as much as Housewife, Ward D, The Inmate, etc. but still a solid, fun read. As always, Frieda is a gem and such a talented writer.
