About this item

You shared a secret with the wrong person.

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town.

Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing and her teenage daughter, Angel, is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind.

But then everything changes....

In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend?

The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found, and police appeal for witnesses - and share a picture of the same car....

When Janey tells Tanya she is going to the police, Tanya turns threatening. She’ll stop at nothing to defend Angel, even if her daughter is guilty. If Janey says anything, Tanya will make sure that her dark secret gets out. Janey faces an impossible choice. Stay quiet about what she saw that terrible day or speak up and destroy the family she has worked so hard to protect....

From million-copy best seller K.L. Slater comes this twisty and absolutely gripping roller-coaster ride of a listen. Fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will be totally hooked on Little Whispers.

I couldn't put the book down. I stayed awake pass my bedtime, burned my breakfast. I couldn't stop reading waiting for the next thing to happen. What a story. It was mesmerized with the story line and the events that were happening. What a story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as her other books...

I like this author and I liked this book. I usually skim reviews to not be spoiled but I don't recall seeing anything in the reviews about rape. It's in here so consider this your warning. It was an interesting quick read. I think I'm going to take a break from psychological thrillers for awhile & from books where the husband is not at all what his wife thinks he is.

I've liked pretty much all of this author's books and this one was just as good. They have good plots that keep you wondering and wanting to read more. I really couldn't figure out what was going on in this strange new neighborhood of strange entitled women or with the husbands secretive new job. The only reason I don't give this author's books a 5 though is the ending is usually underwhelming. I'm not sure what I expect, but I'm usually let down after all the excitement or wondering through the book. It seems like the ending shouldn't be so bland in comparison, I guess!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love K.L. Slater!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me, Slater 's books are always a winner. They never disappoint! She consistently tells a good story brimming with twists and turns that never fail to keep me guessing. And best of all, there is no excessive use of expletives or revolting sex scenes to distract from or, in my opinion, ruin the plot. Just solid, provocative, excellent writing. Few thriller writers, or clean writers (many of whom, I admit, often tell sappy, nauseating romances), weave a tale as well as she does!!! Slater is my #1 go-to for best thriller reads!!!

I really enjoyed my time listening and reading this book, the main story, though the secondary story was better! Let's get a book as that as the main story! I can't imagine.... I thought the story of my paternal grandparents was crazy enough!
