I’ve been struggling with the discomfort I felt about being on social media arguing with people about big things in a small way. I had been in an argument with people on Anti-Blackness for days at a time. When I decided to disengage, I wondered why I had spent so much time, wasting time, on arguing with people who refused to acknowledge my opinion. I knew I was smarter than my actions.
This is for those of us whose moms told us to always keep some common sense.
This book reminds me that I have more to give than being on social media all day. This is a read for people who feel uncomfortable with how the world is operating now — and want to change how they show up in it. It’s honest and I can hear Uncle Charla in my head as I read. This is how I know it’s real. It’s not just for Black people; this is one for all of us.
This is the one book I have wanted to read since at least 2022. This may be what we’ve all needed since the pandemic started.
