About this item

Tristan Everett was finally getting used to the strangeness that was his life. Being able to see the dead and helping them solve their unfinished business and cross into the light wasn’t so bad after all, especially when he was accompanied by his best friend, dead drag queen Dusty Le Frey. His boyfriend, sexy Scotland Yard detective Danny Hayes, now knew the truth about Tristan’s “gift,” and they were about to move in together officially.

Life was good.

That is until Death—honest to god, Death (aka The Grim Reaper)—pitches up in Tristan’s kitchen with an unusual request: stop Dusty’s ghostly hookup Bruce from crossing into the light, which may result in dire consequences. i.e. an accidental apocalypse.

Determined to do the exact opposite, and avoid potentially the end of the world, Tristan and Danny assemble their own ragtag gang of one prickly witch, one snarky psychic private investigator, one living drag queen with an affinity for feathers, and one dead one with an affinity for a deceased rugby player in tiny shorts. Together they must solve a forty-year old cold case, while juggling a dose of the flu, a broken leg, a supernatural storm, and an immortal death deity with the looks and temperament of a sexy but grouchy CEO.

Seriously… what could possibly go wrong?

From Author Vawn Cassidy comes the next instalment of this hilarious and sweet paranormal romance mystery series.

5.0 out of 5 stars What the… Is Happening Now?

Ok. This is amazing. As we are only on the third book in the series, the story seemed like a huge finish, rather than a mere stepping stone. Whatever happens next has to top this? Ok. I’m in.

At first it seemed like a step too far in the paranormal romance, mystery, adventure saga - but sticking with it was beyond worth the ride.

When you love the writing so much that you can’t help but reread a section because the emotions and story is that emotionally rich. Amongst the laugh out loud humor and colorful cast of characters is a depth of relationships that is truly moving.

It’s just so fun and escapist.

Danny and Tristan have moved in together in Tristan's place until they find their new place. Unfortunately Tristan has the flu and a weird storm has settled over London. The leaky roof is getting worse and the landlord seems to not be concerned.
Will Tristan recover from the flu? Will the roof be fixed? What will Danny's next investigation turn up? Find out the answers to these and other questions in Dead Serious Case #3!

This was funny, crazy, and mysterious, with colourful characters, a bit of danger, and full of love. I really like Danny and Tristan along with their band of friends. I look forward to reading more about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery with a Side of the Apocalypse

M/M, established relation, explicit. Cassidy delivers her usual, low-key, humorous mystery with higher stakes than usual. The addition of the apocalypse supplements the plot without taking over. The final struggle is satisfying without being angsty. I love the relationships of the non-living characters. There was also some nice exposition on the Crawshanks family which was woven in as part of the plot. Another great story.

Dead Serious Case #3 Mr. Bruce Reyes is an excellent continuation of the Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed series.
Even as a continuation of previous books, the storyline is fresh and exciting. It's filled with beautiful characters that give color and heft to the words flowing from scene to scene. And I see some who need more page time in the future.
The humor keeps the heavier aspects of the story from being too much, and the more ominous parts keep it from being silly. The balance dips from one to the other, settling comfortably in the middle. I like that.
Bruce’s storyline was pitiful to see play out, but I enjoyed the author’s vision of what he was experiencing. Dusty won some more points with me during this one. Is it odd to love a ghost?
Tristian and Danny are still clicking right along in their relationship. Their emotional connection and physical chemistry keep me satisfied with their HFN.
Case #3 is just as good as the first two, and I will reread them all before Case #4 is released.
I look forward to more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fabulous Addition to the Series!!!

Wow! Where to begin except to say I was up all night reading because I couldn't put it down. This whole series has so much heart, humor, love and mystery. This book has all that but, in a larger amount. There is a larger presence of secondary characters, blooming romances within those characters, and found family shenanigans. Danny and Tristan navigate their relationship as events seem to drop on their heads and things get serious.

This book is very much about Danny and Tristan and how their relationship is evolving from the events in the previous book. It's about Bruce and Dusty and their relationship as they learn more about Bruce in life and after his death. It's about saving the world.

I can't wait for the next installment of this series and can't wait to see where they take Danny, Tristan and the rest of their found family next.

This is such a great series! And this one, unexpectedly, took a lovely turn for a moment, before it ended. I can’t wait to continue to see how the relationship between Tristan and Danny progresses.
