I'm 55. I used to watch Kathie and Regis decades ago. I don't watch mainstream media so sadly I didn't realize she was on TV the past few decades. I was raising children, getting a masters degree in counseling, and very involved with my church. I really didn't have time for pop culture. Mostly I watched FOX news. That's where I saw Kathie talking about her new book. It sounded great so I ordered it.
Man, I feel like I missed out! I might have enjoyed seeing her on a show with Hoda (is that the Today Show?), watching all her music videos and movies, listening to her songs.
I didn't know about her past, and I didn't know about her life up to the present. All I knew about her was the time with Regis.
From this book I learned there was much much more than Regis and Kathie Lee.
I rented the movie called Then Came You. It was cute. So from that I learned she was an actress. I think the co-star was someone that she said she liked very much . . . a comedian.
I've been to Israel twice, once when the Columbine High school tragedy happened near my home, and once two years later. On the 2nd trip to Israel I listened to Nicole Mullen's music non-stop, but then I sort of lost track of her too.
What fun to see that video about the God who Sees you in the music video Nicole and Kathie made together. I keep dreaming about it and the song is stuck in my head. I've shared it with all my friends. From that video I learned Kathie is musical, and she is a producer!
A weird thing happened. Just before Christmas I was researching wineries near Greenfield, CA because my husband's brother is living in an RV doing traveling Physician's Assistant work there, mostly treating people with Covid. His wife is with him.
I was trying to find a neat Christmas gift they could enjoy and I discovered Scheid Winery. A day or two later I read about Kathie's GIFFT wine, in this book, and that it came from that winery. That really freaked me out.
I placed an order for the wine and was pleasantly surprised there was no shipping fee! The wine is great!
In summary, I'm passing along the book to a friend, and I've told many people about it on my Facebook page. I'm feeling a mixture of happiness and sadness that I missed out on much of her talents these past few decades!
Most of the book was great. Two chapters left me a little confused. I couldn't figure out who or what the Weirdos were and if they did any projects together.
Also, the chapter about the Kardashians left me bewildered. I don't know anything about them. I don't know who Kris is or Kim are. I had a difficult time telling who the mom and dad were, and who the kids were. It seemed like that chapter assumed everyone knows who they are.
Kathie's talents and faith are an inspiration. I appreciate her candor in this book. She makes every day seem like an adventure. It inspired me in my own life.
