About this item

Max has settled nicely into life in Welling.

He's got the best boyfriend ever born and a life he never imagined he could have. He's also written his new screenplay, and the hottest director in Hollywood has snapped it up enthusiastically.

So what's the problem? She's asked for a two-week long retreat, hosted by him, in his home, with the actors who've been cast in the movie. Between the personal disagreements, the weird flirtations, the easily bruised egos, and the fact that one of them invited his family along, the first week has already been hellish. All he wanted was to find the right time to propose to his boyfriend.

Things take a turn for the worse when one of the actors is murdered, and the best suspects are Max, his family, and his houseguests. The sheriff is no help at all, so Max needs to discover who the killer is before someone ends up behind bars.

Let Sleeping Foxes Lie is a slightly paranormal cozy mystery about Max and Gentry's happily ever after, put on hold by an excessively flirty actor, a baby surprise, and the worst sheriff ever to grace the town of Welling. It follows Where Foxes Say Goodnight but largely stands alone and closes the series.

Absolute chaos is what's happening here.
Max is living his very best life.
He and Gentry are very much in love and his work life is amazing.
Well, some sacrifices have to be made in that aspect.
There's lots of people roaming around (work mates) and it's becoming so very trying and tedious.
Of course that's when a dead body appears.
Now Max and Gentry have to figure out whodunnit in order to stay out of jail.
The mystery really kept me invested and of course I loved getting to see a Max and Gentry get their HEA.

The second book in this series doesn’t disappoint. The cast of characters expand a bit in this one as a total douche gets himself offed and everyone is on hand to figure out what happened. Loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars HEA for the win.

This is a drama free romance that is all HEA. Well, drama free for the MCs in terms of their relationship. There is enough drama and whodunit mystery in the plot instead.

Granted, the spice level is definitely a 1/5 compared to my usual reads, but I would read more from Max's POV anyday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humor, heart, romance and mystery…

Just like I did with the first book, I couldn’t out it down. Shrewd writing evokes laughter, and it’s tightly spaced enough to keep you interested in finding out whodunit. The cast of characters is superb, and I wholly wish I could be part of their community.
Heck, there’s even a vintage Packard in a lesser supporting role, and a wholly unconventional marriage proposal.
What’s not to love?

This was sort of like a Hercule Poirot movie - someone dies and there’s a house full of suspects - some with more motive than others! It was interesting to learn about the cast of Max’s new movie as the mystery progresses. I had guessed the murderer before the end, but not all the details. However, the resolution to the mystery was good if implausible.

The romance was more to the background but I did enjoy seeing Max and Gentry move progress their relationship.

The paranormal aspects are limited to one ghost, but she adds a little character.

All in all a good read!

Resurrection of love is an interesting exploration. It smells of magnolia blossoms and hydrangeas. It appears in the glowing sheen of a varnished surface. Mostly, loves reappearance shows up on the lips of men enamored with each other. Lustily appealing!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sequel in Comparison to the First Book
Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2024
This sequel has better writing than the first book and the plot feels more cohesive and focused in this book. While this book was not as funny as the first in my opinion but I still enjoyed reading and enjoyed the book overall. But I admittedly had more fun reading the first book. Also, this book didn’t thrown in details that are never really touch on again like the first book did. So it being written better and more focused helped with how much enjoyment there was reading it.
