    As someone who typically reads several books per week, I can honestly say that “When You Smile” is one of the best stories that I have finished in the past year. Taryn and Charlotte (or “Charlie” as she prefers to be called) are both amazing main characters who I rooted for right from the very first chapter.

    Taryn, in particular, stole my heart with her quirky, kind, and endearing personality, while Charlie’s bravery and compassionate nature really stood out to me, especially when she interacted with Taryn. I am so glad that I took a chance on this author, and now I can’t wait to read more of her books in the future!

    Yes, all those years ago Taryn had a crush on her babysitter, Charlie. She was too young at that time to understand her feelings. When they meet up at college, Taryn figures out what those feelings meant. However, Charlie was straight. Right? This was a tender love story and had my heartstrings from the first college interaction. Young love has morphed into something much stronger. No real drama and just a little bit of hurt feelings. If you are looking for a sweet, cute book then this is for you. I loved it.

    Girl has a crush on her babysitter. She reconnects with her again in college and has a chance at a romance with her crush? That's the dream! A good read ????

    If you've enjoyed this author's works, then this is right up your alley. The laughs, tears and all in between are here.

    Both leads are fun and feel authentic. The medium slow burn was satisfying to read. The supporting cast were fantastic.

    I enjoyed this more than I thought I would from the description. Based on the babysitter trope I was not really sure it would be my thing but I have enjoyed so many other Brayden books I decided to give it a try. I enjoyed the budding romance and bond that Brayden built between Taryn and Charlie. Classic Brayden she always builds the connection well. I did find the beginning of the. novel was a bit too in my face with the babysitting trope but it settled in once the story got going and allowed me to enjoy things much more. The babysitting component actually hardly played into the story and the age difference for me between these characters is much more minimal than I anticipated. Without spoiling anything, anyone who has read Brayden before knows she likes to through a wrench in things at some point but in this book I found it a little unnecessary and rushed. I would have been just as content to see Taryn and Charlie navigate their way through their future and settle into their inevitable romance novel ending of happily ever after.,

    Overall a fun and enjoyable read from Melissa Brayden as always but not my favourite book of hers.

    I must confess my bias. I've loved all of this author's previous books and this one is no exception. Taryn and Charlie are adorable and both have ingrained insecurities and fears that they must acknowledge before they can explore their magnetic, intimate, and loving relationship non-stop. Don't hesitate to read this wonderful story.

    I liked the MCs and their journey to discovering love. I didn't think that the college atmosphere was very realistic and would have based the book in a different world. I also thought the end stage angst was unnecessary. Overall a solid 3.5 stars.
