About this item

Blair

I'd been waiting my whole life to run. When I uncovered hidden papers detailing my inheritance, I knew my time had come. I packed my trunk full of plant babies, black nail polish, and determination. With my demons in the rearview mirror and my trauma for company, I made my way to Elmwood. The remote Maine mountain town is home to my future, a potential love interest, and a lot of really weird, possibly deadly secrets.

Richard

Until recently, the most interesting thing in my life had been a particularly difficult Sunday crossword. Even my vampiric transformation hadn't disrupted my life much—it was still boring and repetitive, albeit with more blood than I'd previously dealt with. When newcomer Blair—a charming five-foot-tall vegan ball of rage—blows into town, it's all I can do not to follow him like a love-sick puppy. He’s everything I’ve been missing, but there's a catch: I need to spy on him and convince the Council he’s innocent of his mother’s crimes. Here's hoping I don't end up with a corpse instead of a boyfriend.

Bite Me! (You Know I Like It) is a standalone slow-burn paranormal MM romance with high heat, an HEA, and no cliffhangers. If you like spooky stories with mystery, suspense, hilarious miscommunication, and characters that make you laugh, listen on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Limiter people skills and sweetness overload

Being my first Fae Quin book, I didn't know what to expect except for the obvious. I love vampire books, and the first time I saw the cover, I knew I couldn't wait to read it and added it on my tbr.

Now, my TBR is a black hole atp, and being a mood reader means that I go in there and pick and choose.

This one... well, I picked it because of the cover ( as mentioned ). The cute colors, the white-haired dude, YASSSS pls.

Now, don't let yourself fooled, this book is AMAZING. OMG, I can't. It is so good I was shocked.

Richard & Blaire are just too sweet. Individually & together.

I laughed so much reading this book, but I also had to go through different kinds of sadness because Blaire's life was hard and ugly. My baby has been through so many hard things that my heart was hurting for him.

He is such an amazing little man. He is so strong and courageous... this is his journey, you know? It's his self discovery journey and I loved every second of it.

The story is sweet, their love is sweet, them together... sweetness overload.

If you are looking for a feel-good, funny, emotional book, this is the one.

The plot is also so entertaining, the mistery, how we get to some conclusions and the way we meet the next characters... you guessed it, AMAZING.

Richard & Blaire will have my heart, and I hope I get to see them in the next books because this was clearly NOT enough for me.

    5/5⭐️, highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the story, but it's a little longer than necessary

So, overall, I really enjoyed this. Our MCs, Blair and Richard, are interesting and complex. There is a lot of emotion. This story was a lot heavier than I was expecting. There is still plenty of humor to balance it out, though. My only complaint, honestly, is that this story is just way longer than it needed to be. It's almost 600 pages, so it's thicc. Some parts felt like it dragged at times, so it just didn't feel necessary. That said, this is a fun read. The story may be long, but the writing is good. The Elmwood community is super interesting. I am super curious about Prudence's story, so I will for sure be continuing with this series.

First of all, I need to state that Fae Quin is an artist, first and foremost. An amazing artist! Her work is next level stunning and I say this so that you'll understand when I describe her debut novel - Bite Me! While on the surface it appears to be a paranormal romance, featuring an adorable, if a little bit broken human, Blair and Richard, a blond Adonis vampire, who falls head over heels for the emo looking young man. That is where any comparisons end. What Fae Quin does is weave a masterful tale of terrible abuse and found family, and she does so with all the incredible detail of one of her artistic works. Her words are like poetry and they reveal so much more than mere words should be capable of. You don't just "see" the landscape and people - you feel the emotion and the living spirit seep off the pages - and this is a very rare skill indeed. Yes, there is a lot of angst and heartache in learning about the life that Blair has suffered through. It's not pretty. It's dark and gritty, and at times brutal, and I would definitely take the trigger warnings seriously here, but beyond that the author weaves a thread of hope. A light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, and it shows in the way that both Blair and Richard push through the darkness with bravery and a fair amount of sass! Blair is unapologetic in his manner - a feisty little twink trying to figure out who he wants to be and where he fits in the world. Richard struggles with responsibilities that have been thrust upon him, when there is a part of him that just wants to be young and carefree. When the two of them come together it's a push and pull of wanting to resist but helpless to fight their attraction and a less than helpful dose of outside influences. I really don't want to give away too much of the story but it's part mystery, part romance and a lot of positivity regarding communication, learning to accept and love yourself, and learning to trust. There are several extremely important side characters and they are just as much a part of the story as the MC's. I particularly loved Collin - Richard's younger brother. That boy is an absolute hoot! There are revelations at the end that I did not see coming, and it segues perfectly into the beginning of the next book. I'd call this a HFN or a continuing happy, because while this story arc finishes it sets us up for more mystery and drama to come. Honestly, I was completely blown away that this is a debut novel and I can only imagine how much more the author has to share as they grow into their writing craft. I'd give this 20* stars if I could and I am going to be waiting with bated breath for the next book! Please give this book a try! I'm pretty confident you won't be disappointed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Editor, where art thou?

The overall story was alright. The characters were alright. The writing was alright for the most part. There was something off about it for me, though. I think a good editor could have cut off a lot of the fat. I didn’t like the overuse of the short sentences that were like a list. I’m not explaining it clearly but you start to notice the pattern after about the gazillionth use of this style. There was too much internal dialogue imo, and how hot Richard is. Too much repetition of thoughts already conveyed, too much telling vs showing. Blair reads younger than 23 but I guess it makes sense given the abuse and the sheltered life he’d led. The book was a weird combo of too much and not enough. As I said, editing could make this so much better. I’m not sure if I’ll read the next book in this series.

I identified with Blair every step of the way. It’s spooky (hehe) finding a character who has bizarrely similar critical self talk, to the point where he literally says, out loud, “shut up” to his thoughts. It was giving me a “killing me softly” by Roberta Flack moment. Respectfully, I didn’t think this book was gonna be as good as it is with such a cheesy title, but it is prob one of the best books I’ve read this year. Richard, despite having a lame name (also respectfully—it also felt intentional on the author’s part), is like ideal book boyfriend material, mostly bc he’s imperfect but so damn earnest.

Anyway I’m not qualified to review books, but I’m like “damn I wish I wrote this.” 10/10. Admire the fook out of the author for being so good with words and feelings and making the characters feel real because they’re flawed but that doesn’t make them bad. 11/10. And I respect that Blair is a troll. 12/10 troll work.
