This book was riveting and opened my eyes to NCAA incompetence. Good book even if you do don't follow college sports.

I enjoyed the book. I am not a big sports fan. I enjoy police procedurals and reading about crime that isn't murder. This was an interesting insight into the behind the scenes of college sports and the workings of the FBI, DOJ, and the courts.

This book kept my attention. The main criticism I have is the author would bounce back and forth between referring to folks by first or last name. I felt like I needed a scorecard.

The facts of this true story are interesting and compelling, but the way it is told causes the story to drag on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating look inside college sports

An interesting, but sad story of how college players and their coaches are exploited for financial enrichment by agents, financial advisors, sports wear companies, etc. Really gives an in depth look at what goes on behind the scenes. One can only imagine how more serious this has become with the NIL compensation for athletes today. The NCAA has not done much to address the problems amateur athletes face; not everyone will go on to earn millions as a professional athlete or be an Olympian. The FBI also has its problems with a lack of professionalism, at least in this case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating tale of corruption in college sports

Very interesting story of a “jock sniffing” financial advisor who fell from grace through his greed and ego. Sad to learn how corrupt college sports truly is…with the assistant coaches, assistant Athletic Directors, sneaker company executives, runners and more having such a major influence over young athlete’s. In addition, the incompetence of the government (at least from Marty Blazer’s perspective) and the wasteful spending in pursuing the case is very disappointing.

In the end, while I feel some sympathy for Marty ‘Blaze’ Blazer, I also am not a fan of how many lives he destroyed to save himself and his family. I understand why he would do it, and the greed and corruption by those who were indicted does not make them sympathetic figures, it is still very tragic for all

The level of corruption in college sports is exposed in ways not known to most fans. Interesting and very informative.

The book was well researched and well written. If anyone needs proof/further proof of the corruption in the NCAA and its commitment to itself ONLY, then read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story within a story

Even for those jaded cynics who believe college sports has been corrupt for decades, this book will be an eye-opener. The author also manages to capture the humanity of the key protagonist and government cooperator without apologizing for the corruption that is exposed in this book. Finally, it leaves the reader with a lot to think about, especially with recent rule changes that seem to paper over the bigger issues.
