Now, Alison Larkin's critically acclaimed narrations of Austen's six completed novels are brought together in this very special 200th anniversary audio edition. This book is beautiful! It isn’t too big or heavy, the book flops perfectly without cracking the spine (one of my favorite things). And the pages feel high quality. I got this book to annotate all my favorite Austen quotes and the pages hold up to a highlighter without bleeding through. Excellent book, highly recommend.

Jane Austen was a precocious writer, experimenting with her own style as a young girl. As an adult, she wrote some priceless classics of English literature. Her works are still popular today; many have the transition to film and television. This collection gathers together the best of her work.

Here are her six completed novels, including the incomparable "Pride and Prejudice." Here also is Sanditon, a tantalizing story she never completed. Her four surviving juvenile works include some surprisingly frank and sophisticated stories."

This collection reveals Jane Austen to be a skilled writer with keen powers of observation married to a sense of humor, who worked hard to master her craft and who clearly succeeded. Her novels remain highly readable and absolutely entertaining. "The Complete Novels of Jane Austen" is very highly recommended to her fans.

This book is a bit heavy but was a good price. I love Jane Austen's books they all keep my interest and are hard to put down. But this book unfortunately was missing about 50 pages from one novel in it according to the page list .

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Collection of Jane Austen's Completed Novels-- Great to Have on Kindle

I've enjoyed the writing of Jane Austen ever since I was in middle school and I still like going back once in a while to read her works again. My particular favorite novel by her is "Persuasion," which is a story about a mature heroine and the consequences of her past decisions. Anne Elliot is a relatable character who is refreshingly normal and down to earth.

After "Persuasion," my next choices would be "Northanger Abbey" and "Pride and Prejudice" tied for second. "Northanger Abbey" is about a young, sincere, yet naive heroine by the name of Catherine Morland who has quite an imagination due to her love of gothic novels. Austen's prose mixed with her parody of the gothic genre (popular back in her time) makes for a most enjoyable read. Henry Tilney is quite a refreshing male protagonist with his knowledge of women's lace.

And of course there is "Pride and Prejudice" which needs no introduction. One can't help but enjoy the vivid personality that is Elizabeth Bennet and her dark and misunderstood hero, Mr. Darcy.

This Complete Novel collection also includes Austen's "Manfield Park," "Sense and Sensibility," "Emma," and "Lady Susan." This is must have collection for any Austenite. I wish poor Jane Austen had a longer life that was not fraught with illness so she could have completed many more works. If wishes were fishes...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware other versions - this is the one to get!
Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2006
I made the mistake of purchasing the paperback 8-in-1 Jane Austen book - what a mistake! It was sloppy and cheap-looking, with its unattractive, clumsy two-column format that didn't seem to show due respect to the material. I found it too depressing and unpleasant to read, so I ordered this version, and I am so happy I did! What a gorgeous book, classy and elegant, with lovely illustrations, nice typeset, padded leather cover and gilt edges. And for only a few dollars more, it's a no-brainer decision to choose this version over the paperback. Even if you go with a used copy, it's still a far better bargain than the other one, and something you'll enjoy reading with pleasure for years to come. I will definitely look into the other classics in this series.

What a DELIGHTFUL anthology of all Jane Austen's novels! I was especially impressed with the beautifully embossed midnight blue and gold leather binding of this edition, gilded pages, and the sewn in ribbon book mark. This certainly is a worthwhile addition to anyone's library. In fact, I've already recommended it highly to several other people. (This is precisely the new volume Grigg purchased in the hit film "The Jane Austen Book Club"!)

Included as a bonus are the original pen and ink illustrations charmingly rendered by Hugh Thomson, which are both witty and expertly drawn. They capture the essence of the time period and the stories superbly. In addition to all six well-loved Jane Austen novels, the lesser-known "Lady Susan" is also present in this comprehensive volume. To purchase this entire edition, with high quality paper and such a beautiful binding for under $20.00 is unbelievable! By all means, purchase a copy immediately for any Jane Austen lover you know. They will treasure this volume forever!Jane Austen: The Complete Novels, Deluxe Edition (Library of Literary Classics)!
