About this item

Being claimed shouldn't feel so lonely.

Sei's power isn't truly his. As a grail, his role is to serve a mage by augmenting their magic. He's equally nervous and excited about his arranged betrothal. After a life without intimacy, Sei will finally fulfill his true purpose as a treasured, valuable grail.

There's only one problem: Sei's new betrothed is the legendary Marek Dire. The dragonrider prince is powerful, intimidating, and larger than life—or at least larger than Sei. Prince Marek doesn't want a husband, especially one like this. Sei might be captivating, but he's also too delicate and obedient. Marek vows to break the betrothal, and he refuses to use Sei as a grail. No matter how much Sei wants to be used.

But Marek underestimates Sei. Wielding kindness as a weapon, Sei discovers unexpected tenderness in Marek—and new fierceness in himself. But being a grail in power-hungry Draskora is dangerous, and Marek still fears two things. That someone else might hurt Sei...

…or that Marek himself will.

Prince and Betrothed is a high fantasy gay romance with an arranged marriage, dragons, and shameless displays of affection. The Perilous Courts series is best enjoyed in order, and Prince and Betrothed continues the three-book arc about the princes of Draskora.

I do not want to wait for the next book. I love all these guys so much!! But, alas I have a few months now before the next one. As for Sei and Marek, I love them together. They are adorable and perfect and their story was a fun one. Marek is like a giant bear, but a teddy bear. And, Sei is mezmorizing. You immediately love and defend everything he says and does. The side politics and drama is massively fun as well. There is action and mystery galore but with so much passion and hope thread in. Phenomenal series.

Tavia Lark is so good at getting me to feel for characters quickly, and this book was no exception. I love how she creates situations where the characters hurt each other despite having good intentions – it feels very real, and makes their differences ones you can believe they’d overcome. I continue to enjoy the Perilous Courts world and all of the creative magic, too.

However, like the other books in this series, especially the last one, I continue to feel like there’s too much plot and worldbuilding to fit in 200 pages, so I’m always left wishing things had been given more room to develop. In particular, I wish the book let the characters sit with their hurt feelings longer, so the resolution would feel more hard-won and therefore satisfying. Many of the obstacles didn’t feel particularly challenging because of how quickly they were overcome.

Despite that complaint, though, I really enjoyed this book. It also has me eagerly awaiting book 6, which is not something I was feeling after book 4 when book 6’s prince was introduced. But now I must know his story as soon as possible!

Loved the plot and story. Need to read the next book to see if it continues the story. I really hope it does, I love the story and the characters.

This book was so good! I couldn't put it down. The relationship between Sei and basically everyone he met was so sweet, especially as we see him come into his own and make his own choices and voice his opinion. Marek was a wonderful warrior cinnamon roll, and he was just fun to read. The best part was probably the snarky animal companions, from Loska the dragon's, "no fornicating on the dragon" to Osric's unending love and devotion to Sei, they were phenomenal. I can't wait to get my paws on the next one!

This is by far my least favorite in the series. I cared so little for Sei and Marek, it’s no surprise that wonder it took me so long to finish. The best parts were when other people were in the room, especially Kazia and Julien. In fact the entire book feels too much like a setup for the next book. I never got that feeling from the other books. They were enjoyable on their own. This book no so much.

Sei is absolutely wonderful and ready to be used as a grail. Marek, a prince, does not want the betrothal nor does he want Sei as his grail. What happens when Sei starts to become more confident in himself and Marek begins to start showing a fondness towards Sei that seems to shock even himself? You get a bunch of miscommunications and the ire of Osric, the fellcat of course. Osric is a wonderful friend to Sei and a gem in the story as all fellcats are. This book is a wonderful continuation of the series, and I can't wait to find out what happens next. The worlds Tavia builds in these books is so interesting and keep you guessing as to what can be around the next corner in this world of fellcats, humans, dragons and all the other characters we have met over the course of the series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Tavia, you owe me hours of sleep. No matter my best intentions I keep saying, "one more chapter".

I love that even if you're pretty sure you know the outcome for our delightful, assumed lovers to be, the journey is unexpected.

Really skillful twists and turns. I love it!

I’m a HUGE fan of this author. I’ve adored this whole series and this book was no exception! Not only the main characters but the supporting cast all have such depth, even the animals (omg I loved Marek’s dragon!). I basically read this in one sitting because it captivated me. So, SO good. ❤️
