5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, Compassionate, Actionable

I saw Greg coaching JJ McCarthy in the College Playoffs. “Who is that guy?” I wondered. Turns out he is University of Michigan athletics’ psychologist who has helped many household names. Brady, Howard, Phelps (even though he isn’t a Michigan grad!)

He boils all his excellent coaching into a superb book that is firm and kind, gets at the root of what holds people back from becoming better, and provides actionable advice. Not answers, but guidance.

You may have read other books on how to become a better version of yourself. This one stands up there with the very best.

Thank you Greg Harden for your generosity in writing this book and sharing your wisdom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Practical advice to navigate life
Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2024
I really enjoyed reading coach Harden's insights into how we act in the movie of our own lives. Coach harden boils down the concepts into memorable bites, and uses real life examples from his coachees on why the advice matters.
While the main format of the book and structure of the chapters with its introductions are a strong plus, I found some of the testimonials a bit longer than needed and repetitive on certain themes, I'm not sure if every single one is strictly neccessary. In reading the book, you can decide to pay close attention to the testimonials or not, I wonder how it would impact your reading.
I gave the book 4 stars, however I would have liked to see more than the one or two exercises as in the earlier chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars And my growth continues

I was attracted to Dr. Harden’s book almost by accident. I read a review and was intrigued. After purchasing the book, “Stay Sane in a Crazy World”, I opened it in the evening after dinner. Seven hours later I forced myself to put it down as I had other commitments early the next day. After a great day with some wonderful people growing a church in my now home of Thailand, I continued to read but made an effort to go back and highlight critical lessons for myself. Being an 80 year old man who has earned his stripes by working around the world, I was errantly content with my life’s position albeit as a “retired”evangelist, I knew that I must always listen for the whispers after taking so many bricks as he alluded to in my life until the journey is over. Greg is brilliant in presenting life enhancing concepts that can be practiced in any phase of this life as well as wonderful concepts to enhance the lives of those you come in contact with daily, be they old or young. I will be continuing my self improvement as I hope to help many others because of the encouragement I have received from his writing.
Thank you Dr. Harden for a great addition to my life and for the energy I have received from your book that will allow me energetically to pass it on as opportunity permits.

5.0 out of 5 stars He Walks the Talk…excellent and inspired !!

GHarden succinctly captures sage-like insights presented in down to earth terms. His lessons are highly relatable and provide an authentic look at the journey that every champion (those known and not well know) must take. He encourages us all to take an honest look in the mirror and challenge ourselves to give 100% one-hundred percent of the time. His sincerity and empathy comes from tens of thousands of sessions with elite athletes, successful business/nonprofit leaders; and teens from all backgrounds. This book is not filled with academic frameworks and conjecture. It is not cleverly packaged sound bites, and untested theory. Harden shared tried and true methods that he has used day after day, season after season for over 40 years. This book is a gift: a lifetime of practical wisdom shared in his voice, with care and with bold expectations for us all; here he shares stories for everyday champions and those fighting to reclaim their inner champion. Buy the book and get one for a friend. Excellent and inspired.
