I've been doing marketing for over seven years now and have read countless books on marketing and business and this is hands down and by far the best book on the subject that I've ever read (and I've read an ungodly amount of books on these topics), and it is super practical and "simple" to implement.
So many books give really shallow content on marketing and how to gain more exposure for you or your clients, but Brendan really breaks it down and uses stories from a lot of the other leading experts in the field to really showcase how powerful marketing can be, and how effective the marketing practices have been for them, and for us if we use it. It's like having a bird eyes view of seeing how the best in the industry is going about their marketing that would normally be invisible to everyone other than those who are actually present for it.
This book is filled with a ton of tactics that you can do TODAY to take your endeavors to the next level and really make an impact in the world or in someone's life.
If you are a marketer or someone trying to get your dreams or vision heard this is the only book that you will EVER need about marketing.
I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone! The only regret that you will have is not reading it sooner!
If you follow what he outlines and maps out in his book you will have HUGE success!
Cheers to your success!
And a huge thank you, Brendan, for creating this masterpiece!
Also, on a side note, Brendan truly cares about his fans and followers and really goes the extra mile to help and provide support to them which is super rare to find nowadays!
If you're ready to take you and your life to the next level then this is the book for you!

In One Million Followers, Brendan Kane reveals hacks and advice on how to gain a mass following and create valuable content to attract such an audience. Keeping in mind how to create a following of one million followers and his experience with doing so in 30 days, Kane uses what he has learned to point out specific marketing tactics to grow a brand. His objective is to teach his readers how to maximize the potential of a mass public to promote the audience’s brand or product. Kane also focuses on educating the audience on taking advantage of social media and how to use the platforms to gain mass exposure. His words are set to attract a business minded audience of people who he believes "have something to offer and [want] to make an impact” in such a competitive globalized society (Kane, 2018, p.2).
To build a massive social following Kane argues that businesses and individuals need to know what makes the public want to share a message. He is constantly emphasizing how figuring this out can help an individual or company's "exposure and range grow exponentially" and reach masses (Kane, 2018, p.2). He emphasizes that this strategy is cost effective as well and stresses the need to try as many variations of content to figure out what is the best strategy for the brand. Kane also pinpoints that it is highly important to target your audience based off of their purchases and characteristics to determine which groups the products appeal to. He argues that choosing a message for the masses through speaking in a way that resonates the most through humor, logic, and emotion, will make the audience more connected with the brand. He points towards the need to "hypothesize, test, and pivot" using sites such as Google Analytics as a strategy to determine which audiences to target (Kane, 2018, p.18).
Providing exact experiences with celebrities he has worked with such as Taylor Swift, and conducting an experiment of building a following in 30 days, Kane is persuasive in projecting his arguments. He gives a great synopsis of what he has learned in his moments working with these artists and on his own by sharing that if fans "felt connected they were willing to share content" with everyone they knew (Kane, 2018, p.7). These experiences are the strengths in his argument as they build more trust towards what he has to input about building a follower base. Though he has worked with countless celebrities, his opinions are genuine as well as he has only been at the back front of digital and social media companies. He builds an unbiased perspective this way and he relates to how his own readers feel. Throughout the book Kane is able to establish an understanding amongst himself and his readers as he gives advice in which his readers can connect to. This is evident when he reminds his readers of keeping the introductions for an ad video to a minimum of a "second or three" to hook someone in (Kane, 2018, p.117). Kane strengthens his argument once again as he builds this understanding in his audience towards a common feeling everyone has experienced towards attentiveness.
Kane’s words successfully do justice in explaining his viewpoints and portraying his objectives through multiple examples and experiences he has had in social media building. With his concise yet thorough words, he is able to explain how to appeal to the public so they can promote a business’s products through shareability with no cost on the business’s end. Using case studies or examples of companies such as Shazam, Kane presents the value of global markets as well to put into perspective the ability to reach and target such a wide audience in emerging markets as a tactic to increase shareability of the business content. He is also able to get his points across to his audience at the end of each chapter as he goes through bullet points on the last page or two, stating “Quick tips and recap” to establish a clear motive of what is to be learned (Kane, 2018, p.187).
Overall, Kane’s presentation of hacks and advice in his book were engaging and enjoyable. He succeeds in teaching his business/aspiring influencer minded audience as he sets up perfect examples of the importance towards growing various social media platforms. Through all the great descriptions and explanations, at times however, the ideas and words in the book were repetitive. Among the repetitiveness, there was a constant advocation of Facebook as the best platform to use when constructing a brand, which may have seemed biased to Kane’s one experience with success on that platform. However, Facebook may not be the best platform for everyone. Nonetheless, Kane's constant mention of Facebook does provide the audience with a great value towards the social media metrics which these platforms provide. The repetitiveness with his ideas also do establish an importance of shareability of content and targeting into the audience.
