I was able to speak italian in only a few hours and can actually come up with my own phrases now for everyday life. This is so much better than slogging through vocab.
Immensely grateful for Paul Noble creating this course and the ability to listen and practice while out on long walks. Just bought his "Next Steps" course.
When we return to Italy for our next trip post-covid, I'm going to have so much fun conversing with locals. I really cannot wait.
Note that Beginner Italian parts 1,2, and 3 (each about 4 hours) costs close to the same for each part, as, all 3 parts (Beginner's complete). I believe once you have heard Paul Noble Beginners Part 1,2,3 (or Beginner Complete), you can get Paul Noble Intermediate Complete.
I have listened to 15-hour audio courses from Pimsleur (learning a couple hundred words of Hebrew and Greek that way), and while the words and content are not the same, the idea and progress in a Paul Noble course is probably about the same.
The only suggestion I have is to upgrade the recordings. In almost every case, the first syllable of the answers given by the female is cut off. Luckily, the answers are repeated twice,
but even so it's annoying.
So unless you have Italian-speaking friends you speak in your own country or if you have family and friends in Italy when you go there, you will be speaking formally to waiters, hotel clerks, drivers, shop owners, etc.
As far as someone complaining about having to repeat the phrases and being bored, well it is about repetition and using our mouth muscles to form words we are not used to pronouncing. Repeating gets words in our memory. Talking out loud gets words in our memory.
There are some excellent “tips” on how to remember things in this course.
Now on to the next level! :)
