About this item

The first book in an exciting new series by Lucy Lennox!

Right as Raine features a rookie NFL player and his unexpectedly adorable live-in chef. The only problem? That chef happens to be the coach's son. And that's a personal foul.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5++++ Gorgeous stars!!! I FLOVED IT!!!!

One of the things I love about Lucy Lennox is that I never really know what to expect. I have stopped reading her blurbs and just read whatever she writes. Lucy’s new one, Right as Raine (Aster Valley #1/KU), is an excellent start to a new series!! I FREAKING FLOVED THIS STORY!!! It is such a beautifully written, organic, friends to lovers, boss/employee tale between 2 completely opposite men. Tiller, the openly gay, star football player and the off limits, coach’s son Mikey, who is an openly gay, personal chef/nutritionist. A one sitting, did not leave the couch even to pee read , I fell head over heals for Tiller and Mikey’s “do not go there” love story! Although they are both out, there are big internal and external barriers they must break through in order to be together. I was rooting so hard for them!! I have to say it’s been a while since I’ve read a story that gave me the leaky eyes and made my gut ache, something I love so much. There is one part in particular that surprised me in the most unexpected of ways (no spoilers) and left me with all the warm and fuzzies (actually, there are a lot of warm and fuzzy moments LOL) and another that literally had me holding my breath!! ALL THE FEELS!! Everything about this book is spot on..the flow, pace, character development, world building, smoking hot chemistry, OUTSTANDING dialogue and the LOVE story! *LE SIGH*. I fell in love with the town of Aster Valley and the people who live there and can not wait for the next one!!! I will be grabbing the audible ASAP too! Hurry up Lucy with #2!!! LOL Go forth and click!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story!

I really loved Tiller and Mikey! The dynamic between them was fantastic! I loved that Mikey had a crush on him for a long time and ended up working for him. And even better was that Tiller developed his own crush over time. They were so cute together and really cared about one another as friends. This story was entertaining, and I loved Aster Valley as much as they did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another lovely series!

I will read any book written by this woman! Lucy Lennox has such a flair for character creation and writes such wonderful stories! I have loved her through Wildes and Marians and now we have a new town to love! I loved this book and look forward to more in this new series. Aster Valley, CO is a small town in the heart of the Rockies just far enough away from Denver to be off the beaten path. It is a defunct ski town that manages to charm people who come to visit, many of whom choose to stay. There is a prequel short story that I suggest you look up, Winter Waites, but it isn’t necessary to read before this. It just gives you background on the OT you meet in this book as well as some of the other colorful guys around town. Both MCs, Tiller and Mikey, have a lot of stuff to work through in this book. They are both openly gay but it is amazing how your family can still manage to pull you down. I was ready to punch Coach V and I hope that our main characters can make him see some sense in the future. I seriously enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more. These guys are so adorable and easy to get invested in. Tiller is an openly gay NFL wide receiver and Mickey is a personal chef and assistant to Tiller (and also the coach’s son.) Talk about a bad idea in the making but what starts out as forced friendship can quickly turn into more, despite how badly everyone wants to deny it. A rich story, just like we would expect from this author. This is not a sports romance, the main character just happens to play football. (Not that there's anything wrong with a sports romance. There isn’t. I have read some awesome ones.) I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A swoony steamy beautiful love story

Oh the feels in this book - one minute I was laughing, the next I was swooning, then gasping, and then I was crying. The way the main characters’ feelings for each other were portrayed was palpable and heart warming. Tiller Raine is a star football player who is also gay. Mikey Vining has been Tiller’s personal chef and assistant for five years. He’s also gay. Despite having feelings for each other neither one acts on it until they spend time out of state together because Tiller is injured. Thus the beautiful dance toward their HEA is finally started. There is a lot of past stuff and hurdles that they both have to unpack on the way and this is portrayed perfectly with witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. This was a swoony, fun, sweet, steamy, heart warming story with low angst. I am adoring this wonderful town and this series. I cannot wait to read about the next Aster Valley couple.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Raine

This was book 1 in the "Aster Valley" series. Tiller Raine is first openly gay professional football player. Mikey Vining is a chef and he is also the coaches son. As a rookie Tiller passes out one time too many and the coach recommends he get a nutritionist so he hires Mikey. This was a pretty good read these two really get along great. When Tiller is hurt during a game they take a trip to Aster Valley and stay at a house that used to be a resort Tiller is from Colorado. Mikey doesn't have a good relationship with his parents his father is a piece of work he doesn't have a problem with Tiller being gay as long as he is not in a relationship. I really liked both of these characters Mikey was really sweet he just wants to be loved. Tiller has done what everyone else wants him to do his father told him not to get into a relationship it would be time for that when he retires so he didn't he has been celibate for years in fact he has never had sex and he is 27 years old. Mikey had sex with his former boss until his dad found out and traded him. I couldn't believe his father blackmailed him into leaving Tiller. I liked that Tiller and Mikey became friends with Gent and Winter who knows a thing or two about being a celebrity that's out. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I also love Michael Dean's narration. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.
