About this item

Taryn Louden has inherited her father's family home and more money than she ever thought she'd see in a lifetime. There are just a few problems with it all. The house is expensive to maintain, local kids entertain themselves by pulling pranks on her, and there might be a few departed Loudens still hanging around. The only real bonus is the sexy contractor Taryn's aunt hired to restore the Louden family home back to its former glory.

According to her father, Vicky Andre goes through women like disposable razors. At thirty-seven, she's only had one serious relationship, but even then, she'd never truly given her heart. She's never known what it's like to be swept off her feet, but when she meets Taryn, Vicky realizes her work boots are no longer firmly planted on the ground.

Join Taryn and Vicky on their twisted path to happily ever after in another Robin Alexander romantic comedy, The Last of the Loudens.

Can't miss with Robin Alexander whenever I'm looking for a nice, quirky, cute, funny, little rom-com.

Taryn is the last of the Louden family. Her eccentric aunt leaves her the family estate and makes her promise to keep the family home... their legacy. Vicky is the contractor working on renovating Taryn's family home, and the two form a connection. From there, we have a fast-talking housekeeper, a cussing little nephew, trespassing teens, a haunted house, and a fun supporting cast! All wrapped up in this wonderfully entertaining story!

I had read a bunch of mystery thrillers over the past month and decided to take a break with one of the always reliable Robin Alexander novels. It was fun and light, included some great characters, had several laugh out loud moments, and even had a paranormal aspect. It was the perfect "dessert" read after a diet of dark stories.

Taryn Louden has inherited he father’s family home and a lot of money. Now she’s thinking about the future and the sexy contractor, Vicky Andre. But the reason she doesn’t get any sleep are the sound of footsteps throughout the house. A fun filled story with quirky characters and a romance. Love the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute story

Assuming you read the synopsis, this book is pretty straightforward. I really enjoyed this story because the characters were all incredibly likable and there was a pleasant amount of humor from everyone. I love how Vicky's father thinks a piece of pocket candy is a solution for issues. My grandfather used to keep candy all around for the same purpose, so it was a cute characteristic that the author added.
The romance between the two main characters was built up nicely, and they have a connection that was hard not to love. That being said, the intimate scenes were not overly graphic (in case that's something you try to avoid).
If you're looking for a cute romance, this was a good one that I recommend from a great author, who's got a bunch of stories!

4.0 out of 5 stars While chuckle-worthy in a few places it didn’t have the hilarity of some of her other books

All of my reviews can be found at The Romantic Reader Blog. 100% dedicated to honest reviews of lesbian romance novels.

Robin Alexander’s books are a favorite of mine. I love her humor and style of writing, I love that there are always zany characters that a full of life and mischievousness. So when I see a new one of her books is out, I automatically snatch it up.

Taryn Louden doesn’t know what life has in store for her but she knows that she needs a change from how it was going. When her elderly aunt calls her up, shortly after being laid off, to take over as the project manager of her historical home’s massive remodel, she jumps at the chance. Anything is better than taking another job like her last one, sure it paid the bills but every day she died a bit more on the inside. Little did she know how badly the house had been rundown. We are talking seriously decrepit, think horror story style house! Plus, her aunt is acting weird and spends much of her time talking to ghosts from the past.

Vicky Andre is the head of the Louden construction project. She is hated by Taryn’s aunt and the feeling is pretty mutual. She takes the project because restoring old homes is her passion. Vicky used to run through women like water but has recently come to want more in life. Her sister is constantly trying to get her to settle down, she’s just looking for someone that can hold her attention.

This book is good but is not one of Alexander’s best. While chuckle-worthy in a few places it didn’t have the hilarity of some of her others. I don’t always need super funny, though. What I do need is for the two mains to give me the feels or capture my heart just a little. This is where I thought this book faltered, compared to let’s say Next Time or Pitifully Ugly. Those two of Alexander’s you feel the passion and the love coursing through the two protagonists. Vicky and Taryn’s love story just didn’t move me much. This book is good, its just when you compare it to the author’s past books it comes up a bit short.

Oh little Levi. That little dude had me rolling. Another great book by Robin. Taryn and Vicky were awesome and hot. Chris, Lonna and Dawn brought in some funny moments as well.
