This was an okay read. However, it kept taking me around and round, once you get about about 3/4 of the way into the book. I found it to be confusing. I’m still confused, to a certain extent.
PLOT: Cassie owns a struggling book store along with her friend Zoe. In walks Joel (a doctor). Joel has just ended his relationship with Francesca (a Chef) and is now interested in Cassie.
Cassie has a secret and is fearful of it being found out (you’ll find out about that secret near the end of the book). Part of the reason that Joel ended his relationship with Francesca, was due to her having secrets.
Cassie has a hard time trying to get Joel’s friends (particularly Lydia) to accept her. Lydia goes out of her way to mistreat and talk down to Cassie every chance that she can. Anna is part of the friends clique, that hangs with Lydia. However, Anna isn’t like Lydia.
Someone is hellbent on making Cassie’s life a nightmare and Cassie is convinced that the homeless woman (Maureen) has seen more than she is willing to admit.
Joel doesn’t know what to think, because Cassie seems too curious about his relationship with his ex Francesca and Joel doesn’t want to talk about Francesca at all!
Why does Joel always become upset when Francesca’s name is mentioned? And how many ex’s does Joel have??
**There were more than enough times in this book, that I wanted to bop Joel over the head, for being so non-confrontational (hiding his head in the sand, as though he doesn’t see or hear anything negative)…What a wimp!!
