About this item

A passionate, utterly addictive stand-alone MM romance performed with duet narration!

Every bartender should follow one simple rule—don't go home with the customers.

That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar—also known as me.

Still, I’m not keen on breaking my own rules since I know where that can lead—no place good. But when that man makes his case with one bone-searing kiss on the streets of London, I throw resistance out the window.

What could go wrong with a hot, no-strings-attached fling before he leaves town in five days? Trouble is, soon our nights together lead to days, to long conversations, to getting to know each other, and to something I never expected—falling ridiculously hard for a man who’s getting on a plane to America when I live a world away. My life is here. His is there. And no amount of falling or feeling will change that one big problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much chemistry

Oh! These two! Dean and Fitz are perfect together. I love how open and honest they are with each other. I think it starts off that way because it’s supposed to be a fling, so there doesn’t seem to be any danger in being honest—they don’t have to protect themselves because they both know it’s temporary. But then it’s become part of their way with each other to be so open. And I love how in sync they are, how every feeling is mutual and how well they read each other. I suppose that could sound boring, but they have such great banter and their situation provides enough obstacles that the story is engaging and honestly just delightful. These two have amazing chemistry.

I love how Blakely not only gives them hot chemistry in the bedroom, but out of it too. Dean and Fitz have great conversations, and it's believable that they could fall for each other because their connection feels deeper than lust.

I also really enjoyed how the book was broken into parts and the commentary at each one.

If you want great banter, low angst, and hot times, this is a great one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly positive message here

(audiobook+ebook) It was my first book by Lauren Blakely, and though I enjoyed it, it wasn’t the amazing read I was expecting.

Don’t get me wrong, I love hot reads, and this one was blazing, but the romantic aspect was limited. Basically, the couple is going at it most of the time. Since it’s supposed to be a hookup, that makes sense. There’s flirting at the beginning, some cute dates, and the final is utterly romantic, but in between it’s sex, sex and sex.

There’s enough, though, to get a grasp of the characters, and I loved them–the cocky hockey player and the sassy bartender. They make a cute couple, and the flirting and banter are charming. There are too many side characters though, and since they mostly come from other books, and as a first time reader, I didn’t have enough information to really like them, nor didn’t I get the author’s nods. The scenes they appear in seemed superfluous.

The narration though, wow! Shane East was great, but Joe Arden’s performance was so emotional at times it brought me close to tears. Not sure the supporting cast was necessary though.

What I enjoyed the most was the highly positive message here. Creating a world where homophobia doesn’t exist, and writing an interracial couple, were both great ideas–if highly unrealistic. We need a lot of positivity in this world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dirty, erudite and sexy as hell!

Lauren Blakely: Please clone yourself!
“Dirty and erudite at the same time."

I can’t think of a better way to describe the Queen of Everything, Lauren Blakely, and her brick house of a romance. Dean and Fitz are exciting, hilarious and deeply addicting. A staid Brit behind the bar, a hot cheeky tatted hockey star... both with hearts on lockdown, what would happen when they realized they were meant to be? A joyous and raw romp through the hearts and minds of two men who refuse to fall but fall so hard, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

Blakely pulled off a hat trick, Dirty, Erudite and Sexy as hell. With every moment these men spend together, the pages sizzle.

This may be her first MM romance, but this is flawless romance that builds and quakes with crushing charm, stout carnal delights and real men aching for a permanence to the passion between them.

You need to read it to get all these vibes, but when Fitz says “I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care,” MY head spun and I was only reading. I felt the love between these men, and I was sooo enchanted. I found myself in quick turns aching with heartbreak over the distance between them and gleefully grinning at the truly delicious and dirty dialogues. I could read these men and their out of this world chemistry for days and days. And the best part, was the writing the characters. I WANTED them together. I wanted them to fall and and love each other so hard. It’s a delightful story. And filthy fun!

Blakely is already a brilliant romcom writer, and you know she’s going to conquer MM. With a ticking clock premise and all the unspoken yet epic feels bouncing between these lovers just "looking for a hookup," I couldn’t get over how much I simply enjoyed reading this perfect romance. Destined to top everyone's Best Of lists in 2020.

What did I love about Dean and Fitz? Without divulging too much plot, I loved:
Sex on a stick
Sacrilege
Svengali’d
Shut the front door
Morning, sunshine
“I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care.” UNF!!!! I loved it.
Penguins
Smokeshow
Irish Threesome
Portobello sandwich

I don’t want to give away plot, so let me tell you how I felt. There is so much passion and love in the hot hot steamy scenes between these guys, but it’s so much more than that. I floved these men cover to cover and in between the sheets. A classic romantic comedy with the modern beats that makes you wish Lauren Blakely would clone herself so she could write a book a day. It's that damn good.
