About this item

Read by the author.

New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst shows you what to do with your skepticism and distrust so you can heal from past betrayals and move forward with strength and resilience.

Trust is the oxygen of all human relationships. But it's also what trips you up after you've been burned. Maybe a friend constantly lets you down. A leader or organization you respect turns out to be different than they portray themselves to be. A spouse cheats on you. A family member betrays you. You're exhausted by other people's choices and starting to question your own discernment. And you're wondering, If God let this happen, can he even be trusted?

How can you live well and step into the future when you keep stumbling over trust issues? Lysa TerKeurst says it's not simply about finding better people to walk with. It's about developing the stability you long for within yourself and with God, so you don't become cynical and carry a broken belief system into every new relationship. In I Want to Trust You, But I Don't, Lysa shows you how to

  • identify which of the eleven relational red flags are stirring up distrust, so you can pinpoint why you're feeling uneasy;
  • stop having more faith in your fears coming true than God coming through for you by asking crucial "what if" questions to better process your doubts;
  • recognize when a fractured relationship can be repaired by considering a reasonable list of characteristics necessary for rebuilding trust; and
  • understand the physical, emotional, and neurological impact of the betrayals you've experienced and start healing from the inside out.

In a world where so many things feel alarming, this book will give you a peace that isn't dependent on unpredictable people, circumstances, and experiences. Instead, it offers practical and biblical ways to make real progress toward healthier perspectives, relationships, and a future you can authentically look forward to.

    Lysa is, once again, raw, genuine, and mindful in every word. Run! Don’t walk to get this book, especially if you are working on trust issues or you’ve been through tough situations that broke your trust of people, the church, or organizations. Lysa always writes from a Biblical and mental health standpoint. Every book I read of hers makes me feel like she gets me! Wonderful and highly recommend!

    I had the privilege to receive an advanced reading copy from Lysa and her team. I can relate to this book and know I’m not the only one feeling stuck or lost when dealing with trust issues. I have learned so much about how to deal with and heal within myself. Also, how to see and know the red flags when it comes to trusting what is safe for myself and my well-being. I will highly recommend it for everyone to read this book it will not disappoint.

    It was truly an honor to read this book and also to be reminded of God’s word when dealing with trust issues or anything in life and that is what Liza reminds us during our difficult times. God is for us and will help us during our difficult times

    I bought this for an upcoming bible study using this book. I'm a kindle girl BUT for books like this I love having the actual copy to make notes in and have to reference. I read her book Forgiving what you can't Forget, and it was top notch. I made so many notes in it and highlighted key points for me. I will keep and reference that book forever. I intend to do the same with this book. I have already read the 1st chapter and what a great book.

    4.0 out of 5 stars When You Can't Trust

    Lysa wrote a raw book regarding trust. Some things were possibly too personal, was that me or the book, I don't know, but sometimes it takes baring the skeletons to learn to trust again. The book provides interactive thoughts at the end of each passage which I liked as it was almost like a daily devotion to finish off the chapters.

    A kindred spirit who has risen from trauma reaching out her reassuring hand to soothe others traumatized by betrayal and despair. Lysa says calmly to follow her as she guides us to a safe place where reassurance of God’s love and prayers for healing soothe our soul and ease the pain with prayers for hope.

    Lysa did it again! I preordered this book during a time I was wrestling with trust issues with God surrounding infertility. Little did I know, in-between the time I preordered and the time the book was released, I’d walk through a very similar experience as Lysa in my own marriage. This book put words to the feelings in my heart and soul. Lysa is always able to so beautifully articulate exactly what I’m feeling. I’m so grateful for this book and the tools within it. It’s already made an impact on my life, and I imagine I will keep returning to my highlights and bookmarked pages when I need a reminder or dose of inspiration. Grateful for Lysa’s vulnerability and heart shared throughout these pages.
