My husband died 6 years ago. He fought an aggressive cancer for 6 years prior to his death - 5 1/2 years longer than the experts said he had to live. And he really did live fully and we were able to live a wonderful joyful life with that 'extra' time. His medical team was amazing for the most part and we were fortunate to have access to amazing care. This book is a wonderful resource and guide for those going through the end of life with a loved one - or themselves. Everyone should read this book. Kudos to Nurse Julie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impactful. Good to know stuff

This book is not for everyone. Only for people who are going to die or who know someone who is going to die. I have never witnessed anyone dying. I bought it for Chapter 5. I wanted to know the signs so I could get an idea of how much time my loved one has left. I read it from cover to cover. It was easy to read, full of interesting anecdotes. But also had a great impact on my views of how to navigate the process of dying. Especially when a loved one is in hospice. Now I will keep it as a reference. It has a good index to bring me back to the sections I need to review and it also has a list of resources I can use to get more info. I preordered before it was published because I expected it to be useful. It did not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars This takes away some of the scary stuff!

At my age, I’ve gone through a lot of loss in my life but the thought of my own death was scary but, yet, I wasn’t sure I needed this book. Well, was I ever wrong. I follow this author on social media and respect and admire her so I ordered the book. There is so much information packed into this, info that you wouldn’t even think to ask about. She helps guide you through things you should already have in place such as final wishes, power's of attorney, healthcare power of attorney, will, obituary, etc. She explains what to expect, both as a caregiver and as the one dying. She gives you the tools to make something that’s going to happen, no one escapes this step of life, a less stressful experience. This is a book to tuck into your bookshelf after you’ve read it that you’ll want to pull out later either to read again for yourself or to loan to someone who needs help and comfort. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could!

5.0 out of 5 stars Information We Should All Know

This is not a fun read or an easy read, but it is a necessary read. I am reading this in anticipation of what my parents might need in the near future, and this is probably the ideal time to read it: before you need it. I don’t know why this information is not in the mainstream consciousness, maybe because we are in death denial until it happens. I think we’ve all seen or heard of love ones who endured months or years of being kept alive but not living. This is a book about letting go and facing the inevitable. Spiritually, it’s what we all need to hear. Nurse Julie is a true friend who tells it to you like it is with kindness and compassion. I now feel I can make the right choices for my parents and other loved ones when the time comes.

I wish I had this book with my mom. I can get better grasp on things. Love her videos. I think I can handle it better when I have to go through things with my father, he will be 97.
