5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not crying - your crying! (Spoilers*)

I don't even know where to begin! This was such a wild ride: it had all the fun, adventure and hilarity as the previous books with an unexpectedly poignant ending. Matthews' world building has been great up to this point, but something definitely changed for me with this book - it is so well and beautifully written. I swear I was there for every hard fought win, every crushing setback, each realization, and cheering like a maniac for Jake and his godly friends the whole way. This may be why it hit so hard when Jake had to say goodbye and literally let go of the past. After all he'd been through, I wanted him to be able to go home - he'd more than earned it. And though I didn't get the ending I wanted, Matthews' ending was all the more powerful in its truth and simplicity: Things happen and when it does, it can not be changed, and you can never go back, you just have to adapt, move on, and live your life. Well done Matthews! And a sincere thank you for the incredible adventure through time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful trilogy

I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this series. It's full of whimsy, angst, and most of all fun. The characters are fabulous. I teared up several times. Jake is flawed but thankfully he has his illusions and friends to keep him straight. This is such a great ending to the series too. Just fantastic overall. A series I think I will be re-reading over and over. Highly recommended.

"Lost but not forgotten" is such a great card too.

Jake is looking to finish his fight for the future. He crosses the ocean, screws up big, and winds up alone. He starts cultivating and learning martial arts. He makes new friends and losses them so he rewrites time and gets them back. But all the stress and trauma are messing him up. He gets booted sideways out of dimensional alignment and is trapped for 200 years. So he naturally rescues the Lost Continent while finding a way free. On escaping he finishes his task removing the gods that originally destroyed his world. He now is looking to rest.

A well told and entertaining conclusion to the series. The world and situations were interesting and the narrative held me. I truly enjoyed the series. And hope to revisit the universe someday. Please enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid finale, but not a home run

It was hit or miss in the start of the book, and I thought Jake was gonna be Jake. I will say, some of the moody, angst shenanigans were addressed, but only by technicality. That added to the lackluster defeat of the main bad, and it felt like the ending was a little lacking in imagination. Give props for ending it on a high note and tying up some loose ends though, making it a solid read, but not quite in my top 10.

An absolute fun and well written series. The whole series has a bit of a childish name so when u finally open it up and give it a crack it is truly a shock with the depth and storytelling this author crams into these 3 books. Wonderful job. Well paced, well written, well thought out and well planned. Absolutely worth the read! Friendly advice though never get too comfortable with how things seem to be. Everything tends to get flipped on its head at a moments notice

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ending ever!

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was both epic in scope and intimate in detail. Riding along with Jake as the universe (or his own shortsighted decisions) tossed him into one impossible challenge after another was a blast. But that ending! Absolute perfection!

5.0 out of 5 stars didn’t want it to end

I really liked this series! It had good adventure, so many fun characters, and slow but steady world building. It had thoughtful moments that made me put the book down to absorb. One rare joy for this type of literature was that when I thought the author was going to end the book because of natural conclusion, there were more pages and the book kept going!

5.0 out of 5 stars #clapping

What a way to end the series. Ended the book “doing the thing! He did the thing!”, you’ll know when you finish the book….anyhoo long book could have been 2 books but I’m not complaining! More cards, more adventure, lots of emotional breakthroughs, and using the most broken of powers (time) to shortcut big big big issues. Love it all. The best part of this, is how he ended it. He just set himself up to write another series with the same characters and it’ll be completely different. #clap you mad lad you, pure genius. I’ll keep reading if you want to make a new adventure. . Thanks for writing Mathrews!
