Ethan Marsh's life has fallen apart. After the end of his marriage, he moves back into his family home on Hemlock Circle. Six houses who have had the same residents since the cul-de-sac was built, besides one, the Barringers. Thirty years ago during a sleepover in Ethan's backyard, Billy Barringer goes missing. That night still haunts Ethan. Those around him have asked why he can't remember the moment that really matters. Strange things start to happen in Hemlock Circle, Ethan is thrown down a path of ghosts, hoping to find answers to what happened to Billy. If he can find out, will it be worth it in the end or has someone in Hemlock Circle been hiding a secret for a very long time.
Riley Sager does it again. He makes a departure from his typical female led narrative to a male perspective. Ethan is the perfect MC. He's harboring a lot of unresolved pain and trauma. The other neighbors that make appearances help create a moody atmosphere. Suburbia may not be as safe as you think. Classic elements of his work shine, the overall eerie feeling and suspense is very present. Thank you Netgalley and Dutton for allowing me to read this early. It's going to be a huge summer hit.
