About this item

New York Times and #1 Audible bestselling author, Jeremy Robinson, explores an alternate reality in which the events of Project Nemesis, soon to be a TV series from Chad Stahelski (director of John Wick 1-4) and Sony Pictures Television, played out very differently, creating a horrific and thrilling new world where sacrifice and vengeance are part of everyday life.

From the ashes of a devastated Boston, a harrowing legend emerges. Thirteen years prior, the colossal kaiju, Nemesis, ravaged the city in her relentless pursuit of retribution. Today, mankind's survival teeters on the sacrificial offerings atop a chilling monolith known as The Altar, where the condemned pay the ultimate price to prevent Nemesis's wrath from consuming humanity.

Agent Graham, a grizzled operative on the brink of retirement, finds himself tethered to the fiery, untested Agent Tilly. Together, they are the unlikeliest of partners within the Nemesis Special Operations group, the government's first line of defense against the looming shadow of the massive Goddess of Vengeance. Their mission? To hunt down the enigmatic cult, Divine Retribution, before they can harness the devastating power of Nemesis to reshape the world to their warped sense of righteousness.

As Graham and Tilly plunge into Boston's darkest underbelly, they face more than just the echoes of their city's past. They must outwit cunning cultists, battle impossible monsters on the windswept beaches of Martha's Vineyard, and forge an unexpected alliance with the motley and formidable all-female biker gang inspired by the Queen of Monsters, the 'Nemesisters.' Every step drives them closer to the unthinkable and asks the questions:

How many must be sacrificed to save the world from the ever-watchful gaze of Nemesis? How many more will she demand when the world needs to be saved?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome thrill ride where not everyone gets off alive ????

This was a standalone reimagined Nemesis story that is set in a different multi/Robinsonverse where some of the characters are named the same as in the nemesis saga books but are not the same people/characters (if that makes any sense). Anyhow, this was an awesome and fun read. It had a lot of different characters that elicited many different feelings towards them. The main character is not very likable as he is a grumpy old man just trying to do his job, but as a story goes on things start to change for him mostly for the better, but he still stays true to himself. Hopefully that isn’t giving away much of the story. Although this is a monster story, it is really about people and relationships. I enjoyed reading every minute of it!

Enjoyable read from first to last page. It is a different take of the Nemesis saga that really is a fun and exciting read. Different characters than the Saga series. Graham, the main character, is a grumpy, old guy and is looking to retire so he can just get on with the rest of his life. Only two weeks to retire then all hell breaks loose! Teaming up with 3 women they set out to 'save the world'. The story line is tight, characters well fleshed out and you are quickly drawn into another Robinson book that never disappoints. In the midst of monsters, gore, action that is well written the author writes seamlessly the development of each character and the relationship changes between them as the story moves along without losing any of the action or development of each character. Robinson is one of the few authors that show this unique talent in my opinion.

Nemesis is a perfect example of why I love Jeremy Robinson books. It’s a great story (who doesn’t love giant kaiju monsters running amok), it’s got a lot of references to his other books, and it’s chock full of wit, biting sarcasm and just plain laughs! The great part is that, even with the references to prior Nemesis characters, it’s a complete standalone novel. Seriously, if you want great entertainment, hilarious characters and a rocking great read, you have GOT to read this book…and when you finish, you will definitely want to pick up his other books as well! An easy five stars!

This is a grittier, more serious take on the original Nemesis story. There's a lot of enjoyable things in it, namely Graham and his continual hatred of pretty much everyone. His inner monolgue is very similar to what I think every day. Fans of the original Nemesis story will find a ton of call backs. This books feels like it needs a prequel novella or short story to explain this version of Nemesis appearing and the eventual demise of Hudson. Both these events are mentioned frequently but don't get a lot of explanation. There's some very cringe worthy jabs at American history and mental health that didn't need to be added. Following Nemesis destroying Boston, the city is rebuilt and the government begins actively looking for evil doers, yet somehow had no idea a Vegas like city has been created undo Neo Boston. The fact that Nemesis can only sense evil doers when they're above ground is oddly specific and seems like it's only needed to move the plot forward. The back and forth between Graham and Blackwater is really funny. Plenty of action as the second act kicks in. Overall I'd say it's a really good book even though it's just a rewrite of a previous novel. There's also a very obvious jab at the Godzilla movies late in the book that ruined a perfectly good action scene

Jeremy Robinson's works are incredible, and he once again knocks it out of the park with this standalone, NEMESIS! That's right, you do not have to have read anything (including the prior Nemesis Saga) before diving into this one! However, if you already have, that will only add to the enjoyment of NEMESIS!

As is par for the course with any Robinson book, this is a fast-paced action ride, but it also has well-placed humor and depth. The story is well-written and hard to put down - very hard to put down!

The audiobook will be released on December 19th, and I'm looking forward to reliving this adventure all over again!

I'm hoping Robinson has a series planned in this alternate Nemesis world, because he's set up a great cast of characters and I'm ready for the next Kaiju-sized, city-destroying adventure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nemesis is Still the One!

The original Nemesis series was my first experience with Kaiju fiction. It took me a while to get into it, but by the end of the first book, I was in love with the characters, who felt like family. This new Nemesis book takes that love to a whole new level.

First off, it is not necessary to have read any of the books from the original Nemesis series. But I have the feeling you will want to after reading this book. This story feels more edgy and intense, and there is a wonderful mix of the familiar and the new. I love the new characters that were introduced and may have a slight crush on the Nemesisters. Nemesis herself was portrayed in a much more personal light for me, and I found myself a bit misty eyed a few times.

I truly hope this book is just the start of a new series, because I definitely want more. I am counting the days until the audiobook release so I can take the journey all over again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super-Fun Kaiju Goodness

This book was so much fun! I've never been into kaiju anything before, but Jeremy Robinson made it easy to enjoy with his ever-present sense of humor of tons of action. I haven't read the Project Nemesis series yet, but it's my understanding that this is a stand-alone novel with the same characters that takes place in an alternate timeline, so there's no background reading required. If you're anything like me, you'll probably want to dive into Robinson's other kaiju and monster novels after reading this one though. Definitely worth reading!
