Remember when George Carlin narrated Thomas The Tank Engine? That was a pretty unlikely match, but it worked. In this case Mr. Rogers reading Retirement Reality Check was a complete disaster. The soft spoken man reading this trove of information, seemingly has no command of the information being presented, and was unable to put inflection, or emphasis where appropriate. I struggled to remain fully attentive to the excellent material, but the dull delivery caused my eyelids to close and my car to drift onto the shoulder. I repeatedly found myself hearing a key concept like "volatility buffer" and have to rewind to see what I missed. I will probably try again from the beginning with a full cup of coffee, but ultimately I will have to buy the book so that as I read, I can hear Josh's voice in my head, which is what they should have done for this audio book; it needed to be read by the author. To be clear, the content was great, and will make a great reference tool when making your own plan, or to create talking points with your financial planner.
