I couldn’t put this book down. It has multiple POV’s, from the three sisters, a very interesting magical system and a lot of plot twists. Definitely a must read!!

Three sisters, three Kingdoms, three men, and a controlling mother ????
Makes for a lot of drama haha
The sisters were raised to take down the Kingdoms around them for their mother but.....they start to get attached to their people, got to know their husbands, and start taking traitors threats to heart.
They start to question their missions, all except one. Which really broke my heart but her man really started to trust her ????
Loved the character and relationship developments and was intrigued by all the schemes and hope they're mom regrets it in book 2 ???? lol

I have really loved reading this book. I have to admit sometimes reading three women's stories was a bit tricky at times. But the author Laura Sebastian has left me salivating over wanting to read the next book. So pick up this book , such fun.

Such a strong start to a new series by Laura Sebastian. Castles in Their Bones is a story about three sisters who are separated to carry out their mother's mission. Beatriz, Daphne, and Sophronia are triplets and they are all vastly different in personality. Which makes their arcs so different as well. Not one story feels the same, but their are moments where one sisters action affects the others. Out of all the sister's POVs I would have to say I was the most engaged with Daphne and Beatriz. Not so much Sophronia. I just think Daphne and Beatriz had a lot more focus and their were other side characters in their plot that just added so much energy. While Sophronia really only had herself and the prince she is arranged to marry and I didn't necessarily find the relationship compelling enough.

As this is my fifth book of Sebastian's that I have read, I am definitely able to see a definite improvement in her craft. While I did enjoy the Ash Princess trilogy, it had it's faults. Then there was Half Sick of Shadows which I really enjoyed and probably my favorite book of hers so far. Castles in Their Bones though is almost right up there with HSoS. My biggest overall critique of this book is that all the reveals at the end were very predictable to me. Now there were some which left a huge impact on the rest of the series . So I am very interested in seeing how those reveals play out in book two.

Castles in Their Bones has laid a great foundation for the rest of the series to come. I am very much looking forward to seeing what direction Sebastian will take this story in next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting premise of deception!

In the imaginary continent of Vesteria, three princesses celebrate their sixteenth birthday together and mourn their time together. They will be sent off to other kingdoms to marry princes. Each princess will go to a different kingdom and marry the ruler; Sophronia is marrying King Leopold, who treats her kindly along with his family and court; Beatriz is marrying Prince Pasquale and seems unwanted by him but she's meant to sway Lord Savelle, as her mother instructed; Daphne is marrying Cillian, who dies before she arrives, so the second heir, Bairre, takes his place in marriage. Each princess struggles with who to trust and in completing their set missions for their mother and her ultimate goals. They’re in more danger than they realize and start to see that they can’t rely on their mother for help or love.

Likes/dislikes: I had a difficult time keeping the three princesses and their corresponding kingdoms straight. I like the premise of villainous deception and seeing the changes that took place within the princesses. I enjoyed the side characters of each prince and the diversity amongst the kingdoms.

Mature Content: PG-13 for kissing and drinking wine.
Language: PG-13 for 19 swears and no f-bombs.
Violence: PG-13 for a beheading.
Ethnicity: predominantly white.

I absolutely loved this book. The political scheming, the character development, the world building. I found all of it very interesting. The beginning of the book was a little bit of a slow start, but stick with it! It’s worth it! One negative thing about the book I could say, is I found it hard to differentiate between the three sisters near the beginning of the book. As the story progresses, it became a lot easier to differentiate them and their personalities. Every chapter title is the sister’s name that you’re following, but even with that, I found that they blended together until about halfway through the book. Other than that, I have nothing else negative to say about this book. Also, the ending blew me away, thank goodness I waited so long to read this book because I don’t have to wait that long for book 2!

Also I listened to the Audible, the narrator was amazing. Honestly could listen to her read anything!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with intersting characters!

At first i didn't know what i got myself in to because i don't normally read fantasy novels. I can say for sure this book was my gateway in to fantasy literature for sure. The book is rich with characters, side characters, relationships, and world building. The three distinctive princess sisters are very different to each other. Each with their own personalities, motives, and drives. I loved Sophronia's pov because i saw her grow from a soft and afraid princess, to a very confident, strong, assertive empowering queen.
I really enjoyed the interactions that the three sisters had with the people around them. The only thing i didn't like was that Margaroux was barely involved in the story. The only interaction that was shown was the beginning of the book. She is mention as a voice in all of her daughters head advising and reminding them of the plan. Of course i think that was decided because she will be the major villain for the second book. In conclusion, i enjoyed this book! I really recommend it to everyone who loves fantasy, background scheming, even romance.
