I feel so disappointed after finishing the highly anticipated follow-up to Powerless. I have a number of issues with this book, primarily, the lack of any real plot or development.
Where do I start? Okay, this entire story could've been condensed to a few chapters. It is prolonged angst and banter with no payoff. No substance. Nothing happens. How many times can Paedyn evade capture and successfully escape Kai? Over and over. Witty banter, escape attempts, and the characters not killing each other for 300+ pages.
Finally, after two books of angst, we get a few kisses and our characters express their love. Then we reach an infuriating and cheap cliffhanger. Kai brings the woman he loves to his king. She confuses to her crimes, including MURDER, and the solution? Kitt will marry her.
Not only does the book end on a cliffhanger, but it makes zero sense. There is no logic or reason. I'm so mad I waited months for a book to disappoint me so much.
