Even though the Duggars have 19 kids, I really appreciate how Jim-Bob and Michelle work to educate their children and also teach them valuable life skills as well as impart learning points with great cultural significance. I like how all the kids have music in their lives especially. Plus, it is very inspiring to see a family that lives debt-free, and lives frugally. My brother and I were brought up in a somewhat similar fashion.
I'm a 44 year old female and a former Army Helicopter pilot, so I'm not really sure why I felt compelled to buy this book, as I'm obviously not a teenage girl nor am I a parent, but I must say it is Excellent for teens and older. It is more oriented towards young ladies probably 13 or 14 and older, But I think it would also be an excellent read for parents who have boys or girls. In fact, I hope the Duggar boys will write their own book as well, as I'm certain many young men would benefit from the Duggar outlook on life!
Overall, the advice in this book is spot on. Their solutions for dealing with tattling, bickering, gossip, and other issues is very well thought out, and it is clearly very successful based on how well rounded and well behaved the Duggar children are!!
Even though I've watched the tv shows for years, I plan to read the other books now. :)
Buy it -- you will love it! Great job Duggar girls!!

The chapters approach a young girls struggles by separating them out into categories based on various levels of relationship beginning with their relationship to themselves and moving out to siblings, parents, friends, and society.
I found the multiplicity of perspective broadened the book's appeal. A single girl's views might only speak to someone similar in temperament, but by four of the girls sharing in the pages, there are aspects that will reach a broader range of personalities.
The editing is well done. The anecdotes clear and expressive. The layout of the book pleasing to the eye.
I highly recommend this.

The only real downside for me is that there are some similarities in some stories that are in this book, and in their parents' books. I wish they'd have told more stories that hadn't been previously mentioned, but I guess if you don't read the 2 books by Jim Bob and Michelle, it's not going to make any difference for you. It's still an enjoyable book.
