About this item
The beast doesn't ever really get a fairytale ending… does he?
Deven's mission is clear. All he has to do is convince the dragon to give up one of his magical scales. Lies, deception, seduction—nothing is off-limits. It should be easy. But it isn't. Especially not when said dragon is so alluring in human form. It's not long before Deven starts to want something way more valuable than a scale from his beautiful beast. But how do you convince a dragon to give you his heart when your entire relationship was built on deceit?
Fiora is cursed. Love can kill him—literally kill him. So, keeping his mind (and hands) off the devilishly handsome Deven shouldn't be a challenge. But it is. Deven's entirely too warm, too attractive, too… everything to resist. And spending time with the lovable human makes Fiora question what's more frightening—the curse or the possibility of a life without Deven by his side.
If they want a shot at happily ever after, Deven and Fiora will need to break the potentially deadly curse and overcome all the secrets that stand between them. Easy, right?
They wish...
This book is an explicit M/M paranormal fantasy romance with a twinky, grouchy, gothy dragon who hoards—well, it isn't gold, a hot human sunshine himbo (he'd be the first to admit that's a fair description), and some extremely angry parents who can breathe fire. Although this is book two in a series, it stands completely alone. The Beautiful Beasts series does not contain mpreg. HEA guaranteed!

The best way for me to review this book is to say that it’s humorous. Quirky. Andrei, Fiora’s personal assistant/ man of affairs, is protective but amusingly inventive and suggests some… original ideas as to what they can say about Fiora’s curse if the local council and townsfolk get too close or nosy. It seems they are now doing just that, and via a "sacrifice." A "pure and innocent" one no less. Fiora is not impressed with the council, he left his home to escape hidebound traditions. But why is there someone being offered up by the Ridley council to him? What are they playing at?
Deven is known as the town "tomcat." If someone is willing and able, so is Deven. The council aren't fond of him (for reasons that are related to his tomcattery) so he is expendable in their desire for a dragon's scale. He doesn't want to be the sacrificial townsperson to the Dragon in the castle. He doesn't know anything about dragons and this one is certainly an unknown quantity anyway. However, his beloved aunt and uncle have an inn and he doesn't want the council to play games with their business. Besides, this can be an adventure, can't it? He can do something noble, if the council is to be believed.
In my experience it's hard to find quality paranormal gay romance stories, definitely those that feature a dragon, but Deven and the Dragon fits the bill of delightful storytelling.
Overall this is a very, very sweet book. Romantic. Even though there is initial attraction it's a slow burn. It also ticks some of my must-have paranormal boxes. But most of all, at its heart beats a gentle soul.
I review in depth at on top down under reviews.
A dragon has come to town to live in the castle in town and has, of course, gotten everyone's attention. The Town Council has decided that they need a dragon scale to cure Peter, a 12 year old, who is ill and the doctors can not cure and they want Deven to be the 'sacrifice' to the dragon. Deven has agreed to this for Peter's sake. When they go to the castle the Dragon, Fiora, is outside the castle and watching them. Deven is intrigued. The town doesn't care what really happens to Deven since he has been the local Lothario and getting rid of him is a perk as long as he get the deed done. Well the dialogue between Deven, Fiora and Andrei (the butler/steward/bodyguard) is hysterical and I laughed so much I almost could not catch my breath (the statues in the garden gave the best lines between Deven and Fiora).
You need to read this, really really need to
