About this item

The beast doesn't ever really get a fairytale ending… does he?

Deven's mission is clear. All he has to do is convince the dragon to give up one of his magical scales. Lies, deception, seduction—nothing is off-limits. It should be easy. But it isn't. Especially not when said dragon is so alluring in human form. It's not long before Deven starts to want something way more valuable than a scale from his beautiful beast. But how do you convince a dragon to give you his heart when your entire relationship was built on deceit?

Fiora is cursed. Love can kill him—literally kill him. So, keeping his mind (and hands) off the devilishly handsome Deven shouldn't be a challenge. But it is. Deven's entirely too warm, too attractive, too… everything to resist. And spending time with the lovable human makes Fiora question what's more frightening—the curse or the possibility of a life without Deven by his side.

If they want a shot at happily ever after, Deven and Fiora will need to break the potentially deadly curse and overcome all the secrets that stand between them. Easy, right?

They wish...

This book is an explicit M/M paranormal fantasy romance with a twinky, grouchy, gothy dragon who hoards—well, it isn't gold, a hot human sunshine himbo (he'd be the first to admit that's a fair description), and some extremely angry parents who can breathe fire. Although this is book two in a series, it stands completely alone. The Beautiful Beasts series does not contain mpreg. HEA guaranteed!

This was such a good story. It is reminiscent of a fairy tale. A person given o a dragon as a sacrifice. The two slowly becoming closer until they fell in love. Mix in a little betrayal and it’s a fantastic story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Cover. Romantic Storytelling.

I just want to start by saying that the cover for Deven and the Dragon is not only striking to look at but is totally apt for the story. That is Fiora. The colouring, the castle, his hair, the rose in his hand, the representation of a dragon tale… perfect.

The best way for me to review this book is to say that it’s humorous. Quirky. Andrei, Fiora’s personal assistant/ man of affairs, is protective but amusingly inventive and suggests some… original ideas as to what they can say about Fiora’s curse if the local council and townsfolk get too close or nosy. It seems they are now doing just that, and via a "sacrifice." A "pure and innocent" one no less. Fiora is not impressed with the council, he left his home to escape hidebound traditions. But why is there someone being offered up by the Ridley council to him? What are they playing at?

Deven is known as the town "tomcat." If someone is willing and able, so is Deven. The council aren't fond of him (for reasons that are related to his tomcattery) so he is expendable in their desire for a dragon's scale. He doesn't want to be the sacrificial townsperson to the Dragon in the castle. He doesn't know anything about dragons and this one is certainly an unknown quantity anyway. However, his beloved aunt and uncle have an inn and he doesn't want the council to play games with their business. Besides, this can be an adventure, can't it? He can do something noble, if the council is to be believed.

In my experience it's hard to find quality paranormal gay romance stories, definitely those that feature a dragon, but Deven and the Dragon fits the bill of delightful storytelling.

Overall this is a very, very sweet book. Romantic. Even though there is initial attraction it's a slow burn. It also ticks some of my must-have paranormal boxes. But most of all, at its heart beats a gentle soul.

I review in depth at on top down under reviews.

A grumpy melodramatic dragon and his town slut lover falling in love makes for a deeply adorable and sweet read. Hope for more in this series.

I really like how Eliot Grayson can write a book with a known happy ending, and still add in enough suspense and twists and turns that makes you think it wont happen by the end of the book. Like I’m trying to find a way to hate it, like it’s predictable but its not predictable at the same time because the stories are new and different. All of the characters have different personalities and flavors, those aren’t readily predictable, and getting lost in the pages and the drama as it unfolds is dreadfully wonderful. The stark contrast of this dragon from the other in the first book was complimentary in a way. This dragon was more feminine and young, very much the bookish type, very nerdy schoolboy. Of course this book still had still had those MM clichés when it came to sex, but I have to accept that and can even mostly overlook it when the book is good

3.0 out of 5 stars Some great. Some okay

Mix those two and you get this book. There were parts so clever and engaging that I slapped my hand over my mouth the muffler the laughter. Fiora is incredibly ridiculous, adorable and entertaining; that friend you want to smack over the head, then soothe to make it all better because they can’t help being wonderfully ridiculous. Then... there are the uneven, average parts that are so noticeable because they differ so greatly from the lovely characterizations of Fiora and the also wonderfully ridiculous Deven. Worth the time. Just know, going in, that you may stop every once in a while to try to figure out what’s keeping the story from being great.

5.0 out of 5 stars What fun.

OMG this is the best book yet this year. I loved the characters in this book. Deven is a lovable rogue and Fiora is a beautiful sweet dragon. I finished this in one day because I could not stop reading. So much fun.

A dragon has come to town to live in the castle in town and has, of course, gotten everyone's attention. The Town Council has decided that they need a dragon scale to cure Peter, a 12 year old, who is ill and the doctors can not cure and they want Deven to be the 'sacrifice' to the dragon. Deven has agreed to this for Peter's sake. When they go to the castle the Dragon, Fiora, is outside the castle and watching them. Deven is intrigued. The town doesn't care what really happens to Deven since he has been the local Lothario and getting rid of him is a perk as long as he get the deed done. Well the dialogue between Deven, Fiora and Andrei (the butler/steward/bodyguard) is hysterical and I laughed so much I almost could not catch my breath (the statues in the garden gave the best lines between Deven and Fiora).

You need to read this, really really need to

This was a cute and funny dragon shifter story. I love that the dragon wasn’t the stereotypical dragon in his human form and that he was the insecure one. I enjoyed the fun, and even the eventual betrayal. If anything I wish we would have gotten to visit with the families more and more from the HEA. This ended on a HFN. I also wish we would have gotten our revenge on the one who lied. The writing was great the smexy was good and Andrei was very cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful telling

I can recognize a fairy tale retelling anywhere, even a loosely based one. Those are usually some of my favorite stories if done well. And believe me this one is! I loved it. Deven is told he has to steal a scale from the dragon in order to save a child's life. He is prepared to seduce the dragon in question in order to do so, until he actually meets Fiora. Fiora is actually not very fierce in his human form and is living under a curse. Fiora knows he should stay away from Deven but he just can't help himself. I loved these characters and the assistant Aidan. A very delightful version of Beauty and the Beast and I can't help but love it.this one is going to be one that I reread a lot.
