4.0 out of 5 stars Steamy enemies to lovers college-age gay romance

When Jay was kicked out of his college on the cusp of his graduation, he just knew his life was ruined. Here he is at Franklin U for his last semester of college with no friends, new classes and the smell of the ocean…not good! Things only get worse when Ryan Redpine must room with him while his room is being fixed. Why him?! He is the heir to the fortune accrued by his father while destroying the environment. As an activist Jay cannot condone being friends with anyone with the last name “Redpine.” Unfortunately, there is an attraction that neither can deny. Can they pursue their mutual magnetism? How hard can Jay fight it?
I truly enjoyed this gay romance. These two guys, Jay and Ryan are so cute and I am quite sure most gay men would be appalled by my appellation! Anyway, if you like the enemies-to-lovers trope in gay romance, you will enjoy this well-written book.
The books in this series are written by different authors and each has an HEA for that couple. The books are all college-age young men at Franklin U falling in love. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Gay Romance Reviews.

I used to say that, in the MM Romance world, read a woman for love, read a man for spice. But, in Level Up, Max Walker defied the stereotypes. He expertly guided us through the emotional labyrinth of lasting love, while presenting physicality in a way only one with first hand experience can deliver.

Max Walker made me feel Jay’s reluctant pull towards Ryan as strongly as I felt Ryan’s growing obsession with all things Jay. And by the end, I *needed* this pair to find their HEA. And it was better than expected.

What happens when in an effort to save the environment, you end up kicked out of school instead? You transfer to a new school, with the same hopes, but a more strict set of rules for yourself to abide by. Mistakes happen, but can you truly outrun them?

Jay is about to find out what happens when the guy you meet at a party is neither straight, nor a serial killer. He’s just the Prince of a company set to destroy the environment you are fighting to protect. Do you simply judge a book by it’s cover and move on? This is the plan. Jay can’t be seen cavorting with the enemy.

Ryan Redpine, is a Prince among men. He’s sweet, enigmatic and not at all like his Dad. However, he loves his Dad and doesn’t want to lose his respect. It is why he hasn’t told his Dad he wants to design video games. He doesn’t want to take over Redpine Global. When Ryan sees Jay he is immediately smitten.

When Jay discovers who Ryan’s Dad is, his opinion of Ryan changes. When Ryan’s dorm floods and he is forced to bunk with Jay, neither of them are prepared for what is to come. The stress, the anger, the frustration followed by the friendship, the chemistry and the connection.

This was super cute and super sweet. It had a lot of deeper issues, which seemed to end up rushed through. It felt a bit incomplete.

I liked this book from the beginning.
Jay & Ryan were adorably funny and awkward.
Though Jay judging Ryan in the beginning because of his parents, was an annoying. But love has to start somewhere ya know? ???? and it worked out in the end.
Gotta love the roommates angle especially when a spider helps ya.
Please I was dying of laughter after Jay came out of the bathroom screaming and in a rush which caused him to fall *naked* onto Ryan. This right here was gold ????????
There were other moments that I really loved in this book but the shower spiders lives rent free in my head.

Definitely in my top four favorites from this series

Jay and Ryan were the cutest couple. I appreciated how Jay always wanted to be true to his beliefs and didn't want anyone to doubt his integrity. Ryan was definitely someone different that Jay expected him to be and he didn't let Jay get by with making a snap judgment. I enjoyed how they took their time to get to know each other and learn their true selves. Ryan did make a poor decision, but it wasn't worthy of the drama Jay gave. I was glad Maddy was able to set him straight. I loved these two, and watching them both overcome some deep-seated fears was beautiful.

Enemies in Jay's mind, these two become lovers after Jay realizes he cant judge a man by his family. Ryan wants more than to take over his father's company, he wants to follow his dreams of creating video games. they grow closer and realize they must support each others dreams and work together. Really enjoyed this book! Such a good story. I liked the enemies to lovers trope where they were just magnetic together. No fighting their attraction to another guy, just fighting not the attracted to that one guy. I liked how their story ended. Perfection for them.
