5.0 out of 5 stars Useful tips for senior globetrotters

This book is aimed at seniors, offering practical tips that consider the specific needs of older travelers. For example, the higher need for travel insurance, packing light so the luggage is easier to carry, having a full supply of medications in the carry-on luggage in case of lost luggage and unexpected separation from checked-in luggage, checking hotels for accessibility quirks like steep stairs, and reminding about senior discounts for various tickets.

This guide goes beyond just logistics. It covers solo travel, explores hidden gems around the world, and suggests slow-paced European cities that might be more comfortable than bustling metropolises. It also recommends senior-friendly walking tours, cooking classes, and fascinating travel destinations within the USA.

The book ends with several pages of references to travel sites and blogs aimed at seniors. This book is a good resource, not just a list of destinations. The exercise section is less than half of the book.

When I think of travel guides, I don't ordinarily think of a category for seniors. Now I know what I've been missing with The Ultimate Senior Travel Guide. Travel is good for your health both physically and cognitively so just because you are a senior doesn't mean you should stop. Other great ideas are offered like keeping up with technology so you can have back-ups of important documents, keeping an eye on health and safety. It's also important to keep an eye on accessibility while traveling. There are many places mentioned in this book where seniors would be comfortable traveling. It's full of great ideas so read up and happy travels!
