About this item

It’s good to be the Boss. That’s what I thought my whole life.

Now I am the Boss. I’ll shoulder that responsibility with my beloved husband beside me. As long as I have Finch, I can handle whatever life throws at me.

But what they say is true: Be careful what you wish for.

My family has been decimated. My allies are few. I’m holding onto power by a thread.

And the truth is, my husband is more vulnerable than ever. He’s always been a lost soul, and now he’s suffered yet another crushing loss.

I can’t protect him from Fate’s cruel blows. But I’m determined to protect him from our enemies, no matter what it takes—as soon as I get my own house in order.

Because I’m starting to wonder if there’s a traitor in the Morelli Family...

If I can't even trust my own men, how can I keep my beloved safe?

Beloved by the Boss is the sequel to Married to the Mobster, and is the second book in the Morelli Family Mafia Romance series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone needs to read this series

Even if you don’t like mob/mafia books, you need to read these books. Leighton is a new to me author, and I tend to only read new authors by rec alone. And rec’s from people who know what I like. I’ll start with a trigger warning first… this is a mafia love story. This is not even morally ambiguous. They don’t fluff up the “bad guys.” They are the Italian mafia and there is A LOT of violence and murder, and the first book has drug use/addiction.

These first two books are about Finch and Luca, a surprisingly lovely and sweet love story amongst all the mafia chaos. Finch is the son of an Irish mob boss and Luca is the Underboss to an Italian mob boss. The best part about their story is that I HAVEN’T READ IT BEFORE. This genre is overflowing with the same story told by different authors. The same stereotyped trope. This one is different. Finch and Luca’s love story is different. It’s not always fluffy bunnies, but that’s what makes it real and believable.

The world and characters Leighton has created is so well written these characters become your family. The twists and turns and actions sequences aren’t done out of convenience for the storytelling, they all fit within the plot. And for the most part, it isn’t predictable.

The following books are about characters within Finch and Luca’s world and I cannot wait to dive in. Thank you, Leighton, for lighting up my thirst for new and well done content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Death, found Family, and betrayal oh my!

This is book 2 in the Morelli Family series and while book 1 is definitely a romance, this one is less so. Not to say there aren’t plenty of sappy and/or steamy moments but this book is more plot-focused. And what a ride! Everything from the side characters to the pacing is brilliant in my opinion. Maybe someday I’ll take the time to elaborate in a review but that day isn’t today. I just found out what’s for store in book 3 and I gotta go read it ASAP!

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed Beloved by the Boss as much as I enjoyed Married to the Mobster

Beloved by the Boss, book 2 in the Morelli Family series, keeps the action from the first book going. The changes in Luca and Finch's lives at the end of the book were huge. Beloved by the Boss is the fallout of those changes. Luca's classical education encouraged by Tino bears fruit. Finch deals with the truth about his mother's death. Each individual member of the Morelli Family has decisions to make that have lethal consequences.

I enjoyed Beloved by the Boss as much as I enjoyed Married to the Mobster. Having read or listened to the entire series, I can honestly say all the books are series are 5-star reads. Although I have purchased all the kindle books, I am planning to purchase all the audiobooks as they are released.

The audiobook was fantastic. The voices fit the characters. Michael Ferraiuolo does a tremendous job. His voice and accents are wonderful. I am planning on buying the entire audio series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scintillating, suspenseful Mafia M/M romance…so sad it is ended!
Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2020
Truly, I am so sad the book is finished. You know how you can’t wait to know the ending and then once you do, you’re sad because it’s over? Well that’s how I feel now. This was a well-written, page-turner which could standalone except to get a better feel for the relationship between Finch and Luca you need to read MARRIED TO THE MOBSTER also. Told in dual POV. Lastly, I pay attention to covers of books and this one is perfect!
Luca is now the Don of the Morelli Famiglia, married to Finch (read the last book for how that came about) and trying to prove that a gay man can be head of a “family” in New York. There are many who don’t approve! There are enemies all around. Sometimes it’s hard to know who to trust. During this book we get the measure of the “man,” both Luca and Finch as well as others. Some get high marks, others not so much. There will be dying of both good and bad people. Retribution and vengeance too. Lots of steam as well!
If you like sweet, saucy mafia stories with a M/M context, get and read this book. I’ve already bought the next one! I’m hoping it is about Angelo! I volunteered to review this book through Gay Romance Reviews and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

I couldn't quite get into this book. I mostly found it tiring and depressing. Perhaps I'm not in the right mood for it. It just never griped me, plus the writing often felt repetitive. I think this series is not for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story full of action and excitement

I loved this story. The characters are wonderfully written and full of personality and emotion. You can't help but get caught up in their highs and lows. The action is nonstop. The romance between Finch and Luca was sexy but full of drama. I can't get enough of these characters! It was entertaining from start to finish. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
