5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothly Written Autobiography of an Epic Bikepacking Adventure!
Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2023
After she pedaled around the world, her car failed and she ended up cycling everywhere was bittersweet. Overall I was impressed by her autobiography. It read exceptionally smoothly, as if she was sitting behind me on a tandem bike and narrating her adventures as I pedaled the same route with her. She doesn't sugar coat her experiences and tells all, the good, bad, and ugly. Definitely worth your time. Her interview with GCN is just a paragraph long in this epic tale of an epic ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars I always thought Jenny was amazing, now I know it

I have enjoyed Jenny's contributions to GCN for a long time and have wanted to know more about her record setting bike trip around the world. This is the book I've been waiting for. This book has it all... pain, misery, suffering, exhaustion, getting lost, losing stuff, bad weather, and crazy-assedness. It makes my feeble bike rides look, well, feeble. It drives me to do more.

If Jenny had lived 1000 years ago she would be the patron-saint of "getting it done no matter what".

This is her book, and it's as amazing as she is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adventure story for normal folks
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2024
I am not usually a fan of adventure stories but when I saw this book in the shop in Moab I picked it up. Like others, I was already a fan of Jenny Graham through GCN and was curious to see if she was as captivating a writer as she was a rider. This book was a delight. I was touched by all the stories of folks helping and looking out for her on her journey. It increased by faith in the goodness of humanity. And it made me want to get out on my bike. My husband said this book would give me bad ideas and if that isn’t a strong endorsement I don’t know what is. Tip: the audio version is fantastic with that Scottish accent of hers.

I am not a cyclist but the idea of doing something like this had me really wanting to know how she did it, how do you even start to think you can. She is lively, funny and answered all the burning questions I had, even "how do you pee and ride your bike at the same time?" She is a wife and mother who loves her family whole heartily and was able to do something incredible. Riding your bike around the world unassisted is incredible but to break a world record doing so, is astonishing. Glad I got the audible, as listening to her tell her story in her Scottish accent was a Wee Treat!

I listened to the author read this book and sometimes that’s not that great but Jenny is so animated telling her own adventure story, I couldn’t stop listening! This has been the best book I’ve read this year and is incredibly inspiring to me as a female cyclist. I feel like I’d love to hang out with her. Read or listen to her story. You won’t regret it and will enjoy it so much!
