5.0 out of 5 stars Worked good except extention hose
Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2024
The spray gun itself worked great but could not get it to work with the extention nozzle it only put a thin coating in the hose but never came out the end. Could have been the spray I was using but I did put that in the paint shaker to make sure it was mixed up the only thing I could think was it was too thick to move thru the hose without enough back pressure like the nozzle creates

4.0 out of 5 stars Don’t buy! Update!

To update. The company did replace my sprayer with a new one. Works pretty good so far.

I bought this in April but did not have a chance to use it until November.(my bad) I bought this gun to use with Blaster undercoating. The first vehicle I sprayed it worked okay. The plastic trigger handle did not stay centered on the actual trigger button, it would slip side to side not activating the sprayer. I thought okay I’ll live with that. The next vehicle I went to spray I put the cup on the gun and when tightening it, it went past the lock (that doesn’t exist). I ended up duct taping the cup to the sprayer to keep it on so I could finish spraying the vehicle. The thing is a cheap piece of crap! I guess you get what you pay for. I should have tried it right away, I might have been able to return it….

Very disappointed
I would like to update this review. I emailed TCP directly about this spray gun. I received a response within minutes, once supplying them with pictures, I was told the gun would be covered under warranty and a new gun will be shipped out.

Cheaply made, frustrating, messy. The plastic trigger is so loose on the retaining pin that it goes to the side and slips off the trigger pin so you can't spray unless you pull it perfectly straight with no side pressure at all, very hard to do. I was able to fix that but taking the pen out and putting a very thin plastic shin in the trigger to tighten it up, but we shouldn't have to do that.

Worse, If there's any back pressure from the extension nozzle at all, the pressure goes into the bottle instead, and pops it off the inadequate screw threads, making a huge mess. Since it didn't even come with the metal screw on bottle, I had to resort to using an HDX bottle from home depot, but of course the plastic threads slipped off many times resulting in a huge mess and waste of expensive rust proofer. Good luck finding an aluminum screw on bottle - the only one in Amazon is the SEM 71004 SCHUTZ bottle for $18.

The plastic tube extension nozzle that comes with it is so loose on the brass fittings that it pops off easily, again making a mess. I had to put hose clamps on both ends to keep it from falling off. Finally, it is completely non-adjustable, the little dial on the so-called regulator just turns it on or off, even if you screw it all the way out it doesn't get any more powerful. I wish I had just spent the extra money to order the real brand name one.

3.0 out of 5 stars FRUSTRATING BUT FUNCTIONAL
Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2022
Picked this up to spray Corrosion Free (an oil based undercoating gel) on my truck. While it worked, I found it very frustrating to operate due to 3 issues:

1) The trigger has a ton of play, and it often slips off the plunger that actuates the airflow. Especially in the least convenient and comfortable times working on your back under a vehicle.

2) The wands do not have any clamps holding the hose on. This is easy to correct but quite silly that we have to.

3) The jar doesn’t really lock on positively. There’s three posts on the jar and three slots on sprayer. Once everything gets greasy as it inevitably does, the jar will slip past the detents and come loose as you are attempting to tighten it. There is a sweet spot but again, frustrating.

But here’s the deal. The nicer gun and wand combo here on Amazon is $100. I guess I’m willing to deal with some poor design and save the $60. Because really, this is used once a year. And aside from the design snafus, it does work. I got rid of the regulator and used the one on the tank set to 90 PSI. Less bulk. I also fitted a swivel connection to improve maneuverability in tight spots. All told, with the tweaks it works okay. But it is a cheap tool and not great.

I used it with my small 6 gal pancake compressor and it did take a little longer letting the compressor catch it’s breath between applications. But it goes to show you don’t need something huge and expensive to do this yourself! I am also pleased with the Corrosion Free and recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine with the right tools.

You can use a multivitamin or nature's made/nature's bounty medicine bottle in place of the one they sell. Cut the tube to length for the bottle you are using. Add Teflon or thread tape to threads and tighten down all fittings fairly tight to the point the orings bulge, check to see you have o rings to and add if needed. Add small hose clamp to hose fitting on gun. Add zip tie to outside of hose and nozzle. Buy the appropriate 1/4" female connector for your air compressor. Need a decent size air compressor mine provides 120psi 6hp and worked great. Put bottle in vice and put funnel in bottle and pour fluid film in carefully. Fill the bottle 3/4 full. If over filled it will squirt out hole on bottle lid. Turn regulator valve off when pressurizing and slowly turn regulator on while holding down trigger until atomization occurs and adjust as needed. Refill bottle like stated above when empty. I had to refill it 5-6 times. This product works fine, just need to improve it a little bit. Trigger is fine fill it with hot glue if the play bothers you. This product works great for the price.

Expensive cost with Expensive performance.
You cannot beat the value for this Sprayer.
Only downside is the trigger is sloppy. It moves side to side too much. You must make sure the trigger is straight.
