5.0 out of 5 stars Easiest chains I’ve ever used

I bought these chains for a snowboarding trip I had planned last weekend and they worked great! The weekend before we left, I did a “dry run” in the parking lot to see how they went on and came off, and to see how well the auto-tightening actually worked. These chains really are easy to use! I ended up needing them this last weekend coming home from South Lake Tahoe, so I’m really glad I already tried them out. It took me somewhere between 5-10 minutes to put the set on, and that’s probably because I was being extra cautious. I drove a little ways up the road and got out to check on them and they auto-tightened up perfectly. They gave me plenty of traction, and they held up great. When it was time to take them off, I was done in around 5 minutes. That’s including putting them back in the box. There are cheaper chains around I’m sure, but you can’t put a price on knowing you’ve got a good set of chains that will keep you and your family safe. I recommend these chains 100%

We live in Vermont and live at the top of a hill with a 1/3 mile very steep driveway. I plow with a Fisher Homesteader plow on a Wrangler Unlimited. Admittely this is a light weight setup and on more than one occasion I have found myself puckered up sliding backwards down the hill on my return to the top after my first run plowing down. Thankfully the snowbank or shallow ditch has always stopped my slide. So far I have had to plow during 4 stoms this winter. The chains go on super easy and give great traction. The driveway is pavement for the top 100 yards or so and hard pack for the rest. The trickest part is getting them off. The chain releases have to be positioned just right. After the first removal I have used a pump jack to life the wheel about an inch and now it takes less than 30 seconds to get them off. Full disclosure, I only live about 2 miles from my office and have used them only once to commute. I would not recommend them for a drive any longer than that unless on snowy backroads.

Difficult to install the first time! Most definitely a learning curve! I would suggest taking a wheel off at home & practice the installation, before actually putting them to use out on a snowy highway!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and easy to set up

Make sure you get the right size for your vehicle and practice putting them on before traveling!

The Amazon store page has a video I found very helpful. The first time took me maybe 2 minutes to figure it out. The second wheel took less than a minute.

Even if you put it on correctly it’ll SEEM like the chains aren’t tight enough, but that’s what the auto adjuster is for. Drive around a bit and it tightens up perfectly. Be aware of the “recoil” when clicking the triangle, I imagine a wire moving that fast CAN be dangerously.

Will buy another pair if I need more chains!

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Snow Chains, Auto Fixing, but Still need Adjust the Size.
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2024
This is a good snow chain.
    I like its auto-fixing function.
However, you must still adjust its size to fit your tire size (with your common sense, no detailed instructions in the manual).

Unfortunately, their are not many options when choosing tire chains, their ether extremely expensive are cheaply made. As for these chains, they are the only thing decent enough for my size tire. The biggest issue is that there are no english instructions. I messed with these for about 30 minutes and finally figured out it's easier to flat out take the tire off to install rather then watch the confusing video. The layout in the picture is forward and then backwards on installation, so your left wondering what the pictorial wants you to try. I was going to send back, but my options were limited. I was able to install, but only if I take the tire off first. Yes they were a challenge. If you buy these, please try first installing with tire off, then you will have a better understanding how this contraptions works. Nothing like the good old days of putting on chains. safety seems to get us in more trouble then helping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit for low profile (oversized) wheels.

Drive 2019 Suburban with 285/45-R22. There isn’t much wheel clearance… bought these and threw them on all 4 tires on our recent trip to Idaho ,14” of snow on steep snowfloor roads. Worked great! No rubbing no damage to the wheel well. My wife even cranked the steering wheel all the way over while backing up… but no rubbing or contact by the chains. Very happy with this purchase. And they weren’t even very expensive!! Easy to install. I mean it took more than 22 seconds… but it was still very easy to install and remove. Fit my tires as advertised, which, fitting and not being too bulky that it damaged my car was my worry. But these were exactly the right product.
