PRO: Arrived timely and product was as advertised. This product is EXACTLY as manufacturer described in advertisement. License plate frame is NOT REAL Carbon Fiber- it DOES LOOK LIKE CARBON FIBER with a nice 'gloss' finish'. Personally believe that spending a LOT of extra $$$$ for frame made of 'real' Carbon Fiber for this application is a waste of money, doing solely for bragging rights. This 'Carbon Fiber Look Alike' DOES look good on my new SUV. PRODUCT IS A GOOD VALUE COMPARED WITH PRICE PAID.
FIT and FINISH is as good or better than expected (some carbon fiber 'look a likes' actually look cheap- this doesn't, having this frame on $25k SUV and would have NO problems using on $50k SUV (in 1989, a $41000 cost upwards of $90k today,, bottom line, UNLESS spending money to have REAL carbon fiber, this license plate frame is excellent- Hey Dealer transferred license tag to new SUV & KEPT or STOLE frame off traded in 2011 Miata PRHT Touring model- but NOW my frame has NO advertising..
FYI: Install instructions not the best (HOWEVER, certainly not enough to deduct a Star). Rarely give 5-Star in beginning, keeping 1-Star until longevity has proven itself. This Carbon Fiber Look Alike has enough quality and being professional in coatings/polymers (background college was Chemical Engineering) that this reviewer is not concerned for long term usage. FIFTH STAR BASED ON THIS REVIEWER'S USING INSTALL TIP AS FOLLOWS:
INSTALL TIP, if you place the rubber pads on the plate as instructed, using a SINGLE THICKNESS OF RUBBER PADS (Pad is slightly thinner than depth of the License Frame <i.e. might hear vibrations>, resulting in following modification- WHICH WORKS- NO NOISE OR VIBRATIONS).
There are FOUR rubber cut outs intended to be installed at all four screws to attach plate (EVEN when using TWO screws, you need RUBBER PAD at same position at bottom of plate as the top. Normally the FOUR SLOTS punched out to get screw opening in PADS are intended to throw away- DON"T. What this reviewer did was PLACE the FOUR CUT OUTS on top of the ORIGINAL RUBBER PADS as close to all FOUR SCREW HOLES as possible, DOUBLING THICKNESS of Rubber Pad on License Frame, ELIMINATING ANY CHANCE OF 'NOISE' from plate frame vibrating against the car. Been a General Contractor, a Car guy, and more since 1960's and believed single thickness pad, after mounting screws for plate are tightened could have cause a 'rattle'. The thinner pads MAY or may NOT have been a problem. Using those cut out rubber pieces instead of throwing them away, DOUBLING Pad Thickness has NO problems. A very simple, EASY change in installation procedure, ENDS any chance of being a 'problem'.. Someone thought this reviewer was being too critical. Not so, giving FIVE Stars was NOT done lightly; however, that FIVE Stars and being satisfied was based on HOW THIS REVIEWER INSTALLED THE LICENSE PLATE FRAME, USING MATERIALS INCLUDED WITH PRODUCT, Explained, and noted this was variation in how 'seller' had frame being installed,
CONS: Instructions aren't 'great' but this is SIMPLE install and hard to screw up.
RECOMMEND: YES, would recommend to anyone needing a license plate frame,, or wanting to dress up your vehicle, Certainly a LOT BETTER LOOKING than frame normally found on new vehicle with Dealers Advertising.
Changes made in original review to clarify comments. Reviewer's comments and changes here are honest and correct- THIS REVIEWER PAID FULL PRICE FOR PRODUCT- it wasn't a gift or discounted to boost Seller's Ratings on the product.
