5.0 out of 5 stars NGK ZE21 Spark Plug Wire Set for Miata NA
Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2012
The NGK ZE21 Spark Plug Wire Set is a great product. Like all NGK products, it just fits right without having to modify it. The spark plug wire set is made for the 1990 - 1997 Miata and the length of the spark plugs wires is perfect. I like pre-made spark plug wire sets and not the universal type that require the end user to cut the spark plug wires (to size) and then to crimp on a terminal for each spark plug wire.

When you purchase the NGK spark plug wires make sure you purchase the "blue" ones which are the premium set and not the standard "black" spark plug wires. The spark plug wires should be changed every 30,000 miles on a Miata to maintain performance.

These spark plug wires are exactly what is needed for maximum performance, so don't bother purchasing the so-called "high performance" spark plug wires because you won't get a better spark plug wire for your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuine, Quality, Easy to Install Product

5/5 Genuine NGK Product. Quick and easy installation process.

Was having idling issues with my 91 NA Miata. Misfiring was causing the engine to die. Changed spark plugs and improved by a large margin but was still trying to die. Purchased a new wire set and installed in about 10 minutes, immediately fixed the issue. Now the car is running better than ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turned out as expected

I changed the spark plus and this wire set in my 1995 Miata and noticed immediate improvements in engine firing. The set appears to be high quality and number marking on each wire helped. I still have to change valve cover gasket as I found oil in plug 3 and 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars I replaced the old NGKs
Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2022
I bought these some time back to replace my OEM cables. I noticed recently that one of the cables was to fitting correctly, and so I figured it was time to replace them. It's cheapest through Amazon. I bought them, and replaced the four cables -- perfect fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Update: Did not fit 99 Miata 1.8L
Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2017
Update: I got the second set and they fit just fine. Seems like the earlier set I got was a dud. Go figure.

Previous Review Below:

For my 99 Miata 1.8. Got a set that did not click onto the spark plug when seated in the engine. Clicked on just fine when outside the engine. Seems the wire was placed too far up the boot.... not great in terms of their quality control. Read a few things online about people having to modify them and scoot the wire down... junk to me if you have to modify it to fit. Returning for a replacement... let's hope this was just one set I got...

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are looking at this you need to change your spark plug wires.
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2015
My 1999 Miata needed this. Over time my wife noticed some performance loss.
I changed the spark plugs, which helped. Next, I looked at the factory spark plug wire set and noticed some minor caking, oxidation and nothing else. I bought these through Amazon for about half the dealer price with free shipping! Took about 5 minutes to change out the wires and test the car. What a difference. Performance returned and wife is happy. Which makes everybody happy.
Not much to a tune up for today's computer ran vehicles. Except the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Changing both is cheaper than a trip to a mechanic and many times cheaper than a trip to the dealer.
If you are thinking that your spark plug wires are the cause of your performance loss than you just may be right. It was the problem in my case.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST DO IT.
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2016
TL;DR Having misfires? Here's the fix (along with some new plugs).

For about a month or two after I bought my 1994 Miata (1.8L), the engine had been "burping" and shaking every now and then at low RPM, making odd noises, vibration and not a whole lot of power below 2000RPM.

Guy I bought it from said that the plug wires had recently been changed, and they looked in pretty darn good condition - so I tried setting timing and changing out the spark plugs for NGK ZFR5F-11 plugs, which helped a fair amount. However, it was still burping and heaping around in a way it shouldn't have.

So as a last resort, I got around to buying these plug wires, because why not. They came in a dinky cardboard box and visually looked no different from the ones on my car, but they take 2 minutes to change so I installed them anyway.

WOW, what a difference. Launches are smooth and the engine has a tremendous amount of low-end grunt, downshifts are buttery smooth, everything is so soft and smooth.

Just buy them if you have any doubts, they're a maintenance item on miatas anyway and they're cheap.
