5.0 out of 5 stars Great product

This is indispensable! Love it! The only problem I had was that the first one I ordered was "lost" and I never received my refund. It's frustrating to not be able to connect with an actual person and find out what exactly is going on, especially when the item is over $300!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t waste your money, those cool features are unreliable.

I got this because I bought one secondhand and really liked some of the features. We’re about to have our second and I loved the combination of breathing wear tracking for our newborn, and the split screen feature for using two cameras at once.
The problem is, this monitor is extremely unreliable. Tested breathing wear on my oldest (7-8m at the time) and it DID NOT ALARM as it’s supposed to. I woke up the next morning to a notification on my phone saying “breathing motion not detected” but the alarm on the system itself never went off—the whole set up was IN the room with me. Luckily my bub was fine. Now, having just bought this Pro, the breathing wear stuff is included, but you have to pay for a membership to even use it? Which is an additional $100? No thanks.

On top of that, I’ve heard several people say their Nanit monitors have been hacked, AND the notifications don’t always seem to work even just for movement and sound in the crib. I tend to keep the monitor screen open on my device, thank goodness, but if you’re hoping to use this monitor while doing something else on your phone, or hoping for those notifications on your phone/Apple Watch/etc for when you aren’t looking at the screen, don’t count on it. Half the time I hear my son babbling from the other end of the house well before I get anything from the Nanit saying he’s awake. We’re talking he’s standing up in the crib shouting and giggling and Nanit is doing nothing. Extremely disappointed and honestly wishing I could’ve just added a second camera to my $30 VTech system because this thing is NOT worth the money. The camera quality and wireless features are nice and all, but for all of the other features that are supposed to be unique to Nanit to not work? It really isn’t worth it.
Updated to add: the connectivity issues are RIDICULOUS and I’m so sick of this monitor. We keep having issues with the camera staying connected, and then we aren’t even getting any video. And I basically NEVER get the motion/sound notifications before my baby is already fully awake, standing, shouting, and getting frustrated. Not worth it AT ALL and wish I’d never bought it.

I bought their original version years back, then got a second one (which was their second version) I now have this newest one. The upgrades are absolutely amazing. One thing I didn’t like about the first two we had was the stand on the base. It was a weird triangular shape which prevented us from putting the crib all the way up against the wall. It also had the syncing light on the top and was hard to see when having to reset WiFi

This one has a nice, flat base that’s way more sturdy and lower profile. The set up light is a nice blue light on the front. The breathing band is a great addition, although we’re not able to use that currently with the snoo. I love having the temp and humidity alerts. The nursery can vary greatly in temp from the rest of the house so it’s nice to know if we need to add more layers or take some away. I love the constant recording (we didn’t have that previously). It’s super accurate in tracking sounds and motions. We’ve had less connectivity issues as well.

All around an amazing monitor that I’ve recommended to many new moms.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy The Hype.

I purchased the Nanit Pro Floor Stand a few months ago and have some mixed thoughts on this product. At a very expensive asking price of $400 for a baby camera, I would expect this product to perform exceptionally, which it doesn't do. Due to Nanit's viral marketing, it seems like it offers lots of "bells-and-whistles" at first glance, however in most cases, it lacks the ability to function as a simple baby camera. I've seen all the viral marketing on socials, hyping this product to be exceptional. I think they have spent more time and money in the marketing this product than actually creating a reliable product.

Pros:
- Sleek, modern design
- Easy to move around
- Wide lens, top-down view
- Built-in top light and sounds

Cons:
- App connectivity is unreliable and frustrating:
Despite having great internet capability on both the Nanit and my phone, the app always seems to have connectivity issues. There are more times than not I have gotten the message "trying to reconnect" and it is always random. There is NOTHING more frustrating than finally getting your newborn to sleep and your "baby camera" NOT connecting. Absolutely unacceptable.

- Video Quality:
During the many hours of my research before purchasing the Nanit, all the images I saw of the "live feeds" seemed to be clear and high-resolution. The resolution on my camera seems cloudy and pixilated (close to 720p) most times. I doubt this has anything to do with connectivity, I have an older Nest camera that looks sharper closer to 1080p, runs on the same WiFi, and has a clearer image at both day and night.

- Misleading Marketing:
When I purchased my Nanit, it was advertised online and promoted recently by many of their "sponsors" on YouTube, and 6 months of "Nanit Insight" was included. However, when I set up my camera, it only included 3 months. I messaged customer service and they told me they "just reduced" (a few weeks back at that time) to 3 months. I expressed my frustration and disappointment and asked if they would be willing to honor their original 6 months since there wasn't any mention of the change and was still being promoted as 6 months. After speaking to multiple customer service representatives, they hesitantly gave an extension to amount to the original advertised 6 months.

Nanit Insight:
If the camera wasn't expensive enough, add the issues previously listed, Nanit is asking for a very, very expensive annual subscription fee for all the tracking and monitoring. While you don't "need" the "Insight" subscription, you are stripped down to its shell, a glorified camera that seems to barely connect and function.

In summary, I'm disappointed with Nanit. Constant connectivity issues are unacceptable for any baby camera, especially when it costs hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Nanit customer service simply tells their customers to "reset the router" and if that doesn't work you're s*** out of luck, buy another one. Again, if they spent as much time designing a reliable product as they did marketing and paying their "sponsors" to promote it, the Nanit camera would be a significantly improved product. Make sure to do your extensive research.
