A friend of mine had told me about her new sleep routine and after some researching Hatch, I was sold. I have had my Hatch Restore 2 for about a week and WOW, it has been a game-changer. I wake up each morning in a better mood and not so groggy. It's been a great way to wake up and ease your wake up without getting jolted awake by your typical phone alarm.
The look of the Restore 2 is sleek and modern. It looks like a fancy speaker. Setting up the device is very easy with the step-by-step directions. It only took a few minutes for it to connect to my wifi. To work the device, you download the Hatch app. You can work the Restore from your phone. It is simple and easy to navigate. It is a very high quality device that is easy to use and navigate.
What I LOVE about the Restore 2 is that there are two different modes, rest and rise. You can create a morning and evening routine to help you stay on track. At night, I like to listen to the calming sounds (my fav is campfire) as I read a book to wind down. The cool part of the rise routine is that you set it up like a typical alarm clock. I have an alarm set for weekdays (Mon-Fri) at 6:20 am. Multiple alarms can be set and scheduled for repeating on different days/times. This is super convenient when you are constantly on the move. It's one less thing to think about. The rise feature is my FAVORITE part about Restore 2. It is a combination of light and sound to help wake you up. There are different light settings (think of this like the sunrise) you can choose (I like morning stroll) to wake you up. My favorite sound that is the "alarm" portion is Meditative Flute. It has been the nicest sound I have ever woken up to. Since using my Restore 2, I have seen a difference in how I wake up. The light begins 30 minutes before your alarm, mimicking sunlight coming through.
I have already told many of my friends what a great purchase it was! I truly can not recommend it enough. This device will elevate your sleep and have you waking up well-rested and ready to take on the day.

Pros:
- Sound options are fantastic. We like the "rainstorm" sound best, but there are many others to choose from. I've only tried the wakeup sounds a couple times, and so far I like the "ocean shore" sound best.
- The clock is a perfect size and brightness. You can set it to be always on or only on certain times. I like to leave it always on.
- The physical interface is sleek and intuitive. The video shows how easy it is to start the sleep routine and change volume.
- Speaking of volume, sound quality and volume are great. Better than our smart speaker.
- It is attractive. I was skeptical of "putty" color but it blends great with my off-white paint and dark furniture (and white baby monitor as shown in the picture!)
- Once you set up your sleep and wake routines through the app, it's easy to control from the hatch itself.
- The gradual increase of light on the wakeup setting is pretty great! This time of year (summer) the sun already wakes me up, but I think and hope this feature will be a game changer in the winter when I have to wake up before the sun.
- Unlike the nonsense I deal with with my smart speaker, I never have to begin my night with an argument with a device ("I SAID, play sleep sounds babbling brook!!")
Cons:
All of my cons relate to the app user interface - while not optimal, I hope these will slowly get resolved as the product gets more popular and the team receives feedback! Fingers crossed.
- The app is a bit clunky to get everything set up. For example, you can't preview different sound options with only one click (like you can for the regular Hatch)
- When you go to the "library" of sounds, you can't even access the alarm/wakeup sounds, only the "sleep" sounds. When you select "wake", you don't get the same options as in the alarm setting, but you only get options for sleep stories and the premium features that come with the paid membership. I don't want that - I just want to be able to look up and preview the alarm sounds!
- It seems just about everywhere you click in the app, there's an ad to upgrade to (or get a free trial of) a premium membership
Aside from my issues with the app, now that I have taken the time to set up my Restore with the settings and sounds/lights I like, it's super user-friendly and I never even need to use the app. All in all it still gets 5 stars for overall quality, function, and appearance.
