- Kindle CustomerGet On the Bandwagon, It's Worth It!I love having the Ring doorbell! It took me a while to get it, and I'm very glad I finally jumped on the bandwagon. I subscribed to a plan and also got an extra outdoor camera and indoor doorbell chime.
It was easy to setup and install and easy to maintain. I like all of the app features and settings and how it alerts me for things like when the battery is getting lower and then lower and for different motion detections.
You can customize zones, motion sensitivity, what is picked up on motion, schedules, etc. The picture quality, day and night, is very good, as well as the audio. It connects easily and hasn't dropped. Breeze to charge.
I highly suggest adding at least the doorbell to your home! I charged to full before installing about a month ago and it still has 70% battery remaining. To be transparent, I do have its motion detection zone limited to about 15ft in front of the camera starting about waist height, snapshots are set to frequent with highest sensitivity motion setting. So far I am impressed as at this rate a single battery charge could last for 6 months.
About the environment it's installed, 100% covered and shaded front door, corridor style approach about 15ft in length. I get several deliveries a week and occasional door to door solicitors so it does have some decent use. I am tempted to buy another just for a camera at another area of my home but i think that might be better filled with a stickup or floodlight cam.
Original - 3 star review: This ring looks sturdy and secure, but the battery is built in meaning when time to charge, the whole unit has to be brought inside to charge for 10 hours. Doesn't look like it has hard wire options si thats a downside as well. With a drastic change like this it honestly feels like a money grab model as this means when the battery fails in 2 years or so the whole doorbell unit would need to be replaced instead of just the battery. If I purchased this at full price of $100 I would definitely be returning it, but for 50 i think i can live with for ky use case. Mine will be recording only what is at the front door in a very small motion area which is after the person has passed my ring floodlight cam. This means it will only be triggered to record 2 to 4 times a day or when i check the live feed for packages once or twice a day, meaning it should only need to be periodically charged whereas another person reported needing to charge weekly. - ShalaBuy it!Super easy to install. (I installed it myself without my husband knowing) Make sure if you’re choosing to hard wire it like I did you turn the power off to your doorbell ( I had to turn a breaker off) and you power down the device as well! Has great quality for video. Connects to everything so easily. Super easy to use. The perception & range it gives for the camera is amazing! same with the color and brightness. It detects everything as intended. You do have a 30 day free trial with the new purchase device. I already pay for the annual subscription's so I’m not bothered by paying for it. The night mode is super nice to have as well. The pictures of the live feed are screenshots. But still great quality!
Only one con I have is. I hooked it up to my old doorbell device thinking it would ring it inside on my old one. (That’s installed inside my house) That isn’t the case for me unfortunately. So I think I have to buy a chime pro. Or figure out if it’s even possible to do. - Ashe DizdarThe security anyone can afford and should invest inOh my goodness, I love this thing. It works AMAZINGLY. Day and night picture and video is perfect. So is the audio. Connecting is never an issue. I get notifications everywhere. The motion sensor is truly amazing. Outside durability seems to be excellent so far and I bought mine pre owned so that says a lot about all the above really. Buy one, you’ll feel more secure and comfortable instantly. We breed dogs and have several deliveries per week and I just feel better knowing, and seeing, what’s going on at my home at all times.
